Visionis VS-VISML600LED Indoor 600lbs Electromagnetic Lock with LED Sensor

I never write reviews but I have done access control for 25 years and these mags are the friggin bomb diggy! They have built in contacts with normally open & closed and the LED changes state when locked with correct alignment. Like any mag use the template and fudge the top mount for the mag 1\16" toward the door and will lock perfect every time.

This is the first time that I installed a magnetic lock (with Z & L bracket), and it turns out to be easy. The lock itself works very well, and I am happy with it. Lock surface temperature is a bit warm, which is normal. I installed it together with a stand alone access controller, and a mini access control power supply. It takes much longer time to wire the entire system than to install the lock itself. update: on 5/18/16, I chatted with the online customer service rep on fpc-security.com, and I was told that the electric coil inside the 600lb was made of aluminum, not copper.

I've purchased a number of Visionis products over the past couple years for use in Escape Rooms and I am well pleased with all of them, including this 600lb mag lock. In my experience, they are high quality but not high priced and their Tech Support is awesome also. I needed help in figuring out how to wire some Visionis components with non-Visionis equipment and they answered my questions quickly and accurately. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Great product. I ordered this one as an additional lock to work with another same lock in the package of FPC-6345. So two the same locks installed on a double door, and they work great, except this one's LED is very, very dim...almost not viable. Sometimes, people are even wondered if one is not working.

This took a little work to get setup correctly. I installed it on one side of my wooden swing out garage doors, it wasn’t really lined up correctly and it took some effort to get the magnet engaged. I then decided it would be better on the other door so I took it all off and re mounted it, this time it was super easy. The issues I had with the first mounting I was able to easily resolve because I had the practice. I paired it with a tasmoto smart switch control board and now I have a garage door that is controlled by Alexa or a manual button on the control board. I do wish the holes for the mounting bracket on the magnet side were slightly bigger to accommodate the heads of a full size framing screw. The screws in the box are kinda skimpy when you are considering the lock should be holding 600lbs. If I were mounting on metal instead of wood I would probably opt for a bolt setup of some sort.

Problems: Connector on pcb impedes 4-pin connector to magnet or it did on the one sent to me. The factory cut part of the plastic off the connector on the pcb so the 4-pin connector could plug into the magnet. Pins in amateur are not spring steel and can fall out.

For the price tag, this lock comes with a lot of amazing features. I primarily ordered this lock for my access control system lab because it has an integrated door sensor. Second, the status LED is a really cool feature and very bright. I thought the LED would be like most maglocks that have them - on when power is applied, off when power isn't. This LED will actually show you the complete status of the lock. If the LED is on but red, it means that there is power to the lock but the strike plate is not engaged with the lock. I've seen this happen in a lot of installations where either the door latch or door closer was preventing the strike plate from properly latching to the lock unless you pulled or pushed the door closed a little bit so this will help you know if you need to make adjustments to the door. If the LED is green, it means the strike plate is properly attached to the lock and it's all good. I thought maybe the integrated door sensor was controlling this but it isn't so it's a really cool feature. Highly recommend this lock!

I was very pleased with this magnetic lock. the box came with every bracket, and bolt/screw you need, the instructions and wiring diagram were easy to follow. The unit even includes a door sensor under the cover to provide feedback to the control panel for a door open buzzer. Very happy I purchased these and would buy again
