Cardinal rule #1 for surviving school: Don't get noticed by the mean kids.Cardinal rule #2 for surviving school: Seek out groups with similar interests and join them.On her first day at her new school, Penelope--Peppi--Torres reminds herself of these basics. But when she trips into a quiet boy in the hall, Jaime Thompson, she's already broken the first rule, and the mean kids start calling her the "nerder girlfriend." How does she handle this crisis? By shoving poor Jaime and running away!Falling back on rule two and surrounding herself with new friends in the art club, Peppi still can't help feeling ashamed about the way she treated Jaime. Things are already awkward enough between the two, but to make matters worse, he's a member of her own club's archrivals--the science club! And when the two clubs go to war, Peppi realizes that sometimes you have to break the rules to survive middle school! Review: Five Star Review [Please read full first paragraph and/or full review] - I would literally recommend this to ANYONE who loves drama, reformed and neutral color palettes, and artistic sparks. I especially loved the fact the author noted their drawing process, it especially helped me. I'm a kid, but I've always loved graphic novels. They help me seem creative with my writing! I would LOVE a tutorial on HOW you draw the characters though! I'm trying to find a cartoony drawing style a lot like yours, and some pointers would be helpful -- thanks for reading this far if you've made it to this point! I would also like to know if you have a youtube channel or TikTok I can follow for updates on things like this! This is probably just a random review you won't read, but I still needed to ask! Do you recommend any programs for learning to draw graphic novels? If so, I totally value your opinion. Anyway, I'd also like to mention: I don't see any graphic novels by the point of view of a queer person. [Aside from Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy: A Modern Retelling of Little Women,] I would recommend writing about that for your next comic/graphic novel. I'm going to check out svletlania.com right after this, but anyways -- if you really do read this, I loved your WHOLE book, and I think it was ASTONISHING! This is so incredible to be writing and of course, a little mental to think you'd actually take the time to read it. Anyway, if you've already made it this far, I am so happy! It's 11:12 PM on a Saturday, so uh- yEAh . . . if you're wondering why I'm still awake, and even more so why I'm writing a review on your book, it's explained with one word: "insomnia". Congrats, you're at the end of my "InCrEdIbLe" review of your astronomical book. This is cool, I don't exactly understand what this does, I'm not sure the author will read this at all. This took I dunno -- twenty minutes to write? It's now 11:16 PM, not that literally anyone cares, but honestly I'm excited and my stomach hurts oW so sayonara, hon [this is in a gender~neutral way] :) Review: Interesting book - Approved by Mom! - My 5th grade just finished reading 'Awkward Middle School 1' and I can't stop raving about it! As a 5th grader mom, I could totally relate to the main character's struggles to fit in and navigate friendships. I know this because I my kid tells me everything. So yo get the insight to approve this book i read it too! The illustrations are hilarious and really add to the story. I loved how realistic the characters were - nobody was perfect, and everyone had their own quirks. The book tackles issues like bullying, crushes, and trying to find your place in a really approachable way. I laughed out loud and cringed along with the main character. Can't wait for her and possibly me to read the next one!

Good book
I really liked how it told me how to not leave out someone from something and not to be mean to other clubs/people/teachers/staffs. I recommend this book to my friend because we both go to the same middle school and she reads these kinds of books. I gave it a 5 star rating because this book is just so amazing and I could read it 50 more times! It is so good and detailed! Who ever made this book is a great author!

The art is great and the storyline was good
The art is great and the storyline was good, but, personally, failed to live up to expectations. I thought it was going to be sort of like Romeo and Juliet minus the romance with a focus on friendship and differences. While the two characters do become friends it's not the main focus. It's still funny and sweet with art that's childish perfect for a kid's comic, but it was lacking. I'd still recommend to anyone - kids and adult - to read it.

WOW!
Wow! I ordered this fumetto as soon as I was done with Dramacon, Vol. 3. First surprise: this book isn't in black and white but in colors. The pastel tones used throughout the graphic novel are fantastic. I usually like bright colors but I think that they worked perfectly for this volume. The story is set in a middle school but I'm sure that it can be read by adults as well: I really enjoyed it. It also makes me a bit envious of North-American schools. We were lucky to have a small gym - just a tad larger than a volley-ball field - and a garden with a basketball court. No labs, no clubs, no sports. So it's always interesting to read that these things exist really in other places. I love the story. It was easy to distinguish the characters (which is always a major problem for me) both from a visual and a personality-based point of view. The plot was also very interesting. The cardinal rule #3 for surviving school is perfect. I'm ready for more Čmatova.

OMG! This book is great! It’s like, one of those books that you think has a really bad story twist but instead, you’re figuring out a lot of plot twists! One of these plot twists (⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD ⚠️) is when Maribella stole the control and gave it to Penelope and then went away. I felt so bad for Penelope, but then it just gave the story a better plot twist. That old woman telling Peppi they had an argument literally SPARKED up the entire story. I had it read to my children and they were like, “OMG!! What happens next??” So I first skim read it through and then I, myself was pretty amazed by this amazing plot twist. Svetlana Chmkova is just an amazing author! Recommended to children, teenagers and even adults to read this masterpiece. YOU HAVE TO TRY IT!!!

Genial
