Hu Gems Chocolate Chips have officially become my favorite chocolate. The flavor is rich and smooth without being overly sweet, and the texture is perfect, creamy with just the right amount of snap. You can truly taste the quality. I love that they’re made with simple, clean ingredients, and the fact that they’re vegan is a huge bonus. They feel like an indulgent treat without any of the sugar rush or crash! I mostly enjoy them as a little evening treat straight from the bag (no baking required!), but they’d be amazing in cookies or sprinkled over yogurt too. If you’re looking for a better-for-you chocolate that doesn’t sacrifice taste, this is it! I like to freeze them and just eat a handful mixed with nuts! Perfect combination for an evening treat.

I love these chocolate chips— or gems rather. They’re are a delicious no refined sugar option and it’s very convenient to get them from Amazon when my grocery store doesn’t have them or this size. They are quite expensive though.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I absolutely love these chocolate morsels. However, the ones I ordered online arrived melted into a paste, which meant that even after chilling, I had a single chocolate chunk, which defeats the point of buying these. My local grocery co-op was able to order them for me after that, and they stayed intact. So buyer beware anytime warm or hot.

Thank goodness for companies with clean and minimal ingredients. This is one of the few chocolates with no soy and no vanilla. Since I'm allergic to both, it is one of the few chocolates I can consume.

I noticed some reaction to cross contamination. I’ve had other bags before direct from local stores, But this bag I could see a reaction happening. It makes me not trust this particular product anymore. For some reason there was some issue with this bag and another Hu bar I’ve tried. However, with other products I’m hoping I continue to be fine with, because they’re one of the few companies that doesn’t use regular sugar.
