Koch Media Evercade Retro Handheld Premium Pack

Didn't know what this product was going to be like, but I have a Nintendo Switch so was pretty open minded when it came to owning another handheld. I'm glad I was because this is awesome. form factor wise, it's the perfect size, it'll fit in your pocket so you can play it on the train or wherever you like. It's also really well made, not cheap at all, and a special mention has to go to the dpad, it's reminiscent of the Sega Saturn one, but in my opinion it's better. Also have heard from some people that they'd prefer a glass screen (as the Evercade has a plastic one), but I can confirm that the screen is fine and good enough any retro titles and you feel a little better about your purchase because it's not fragile so you can just chuck it in your bag if you're going out for the day. You can also play on your television screen (as long as you have the correct HDMI cable). But the absolute best thing about this is that it's geared towards collectors like me. The boxes and their artwork are top notch and the cartridges are numbered. Little touches like this matter. It shows that the people behind the console care about their content. I also like the fact that the games are licensed from the original company's that made them so they get paid. You get a good variety of games on the cartridges as well so there's something for every one. If you like retro gaming then this is for you.

I really wanted to like the Evercade but there is just to much that was wrong with it for me . 1. Plastic lens over the screen not glass is just a scratch magnet not good enough 2. Terrible viewing angles from the screen. Move even slightly and the screen goes dark. 3. Evercade say 4 hour battery life... mine lasted 1h 45 mins! And takes 3 hours to charge! If they do a delux version and fix the battery and have a glass screen and put a IPS screen inside and charge a bit more money for it then it would be a great system.

The build quality is great, I like the grain of plastic they used its very smooth to feel in your hands, but its not glossy. The cartridges fit fine in the slot nice n snug! Getting them out is easy unless you got something wrong with you. Dpads great, great feel and response. Action buttons have a nice press and lift time. The screen is terrible really you have to look at it from a slight down angle which is a bit annoying. I haven't tried it on my TV yet. It's okay to game on just a shame about the screen, it makes it awkward to use if I'm honest. Great game pak selections so far.

For the price you pay here you get a sold amount of entertainment. The Evercade is not perfect and could, perhaps have benefitted from some better decision making in both the design and testing department. However, the team are very communicative both on social media and via the support email and are already correcting the early mis-steps. The handheld itself is a solid budget affair. It feels comfortable and is a pleasure to use. The screen is mostly good although suffers when viewed from below but given the price point this is not surprising. The games that come bundled in this pack represent a good spread of early 8-bit Atari, NES, Megadrive and SNES. Not all of them are AAA titles but there are some nice hidden gems, a few big hitters as well as some that you'll probably never play. Battery life is okay for the average play session you'd expect from 8 and 16 bit titles, but could be better. The dpad is extremely comfortable and responsive for 8 way direction games but can sometimes be unresponsive for games that require precise 4 way movement like Pac Man. At launch there were issues with both the choice of button mapping and some of the emulation with stuttering sound in some games. Fortunately Evercade's firmware can and already has been updated. The first update remapped the SNES games to a more natural button mapping and the second (which is currently beta testing) offers button reassignment choices for Megadrive games and seems to have fixed the issues with sound that some games had. It's common for machines to not get everything right at the beginning. The C64 mini was a good example of how much firmware updates can improve a system so I don't mind giving Evercade a chance. The good thing here is that Evercade are open to communication and not only takes feedback on board but actively look to correct problems. Despite some niggling flaws, I've been playing mine every day since getting it. it has a certain old-school charm and I appreciate the fact that it's so easy to engage with Blaze. It's also worth pointing out to the exciting future the system potentially has. Some of the announced future cartridges like the Lynx and Dizzy collection are an interesting break from the norm and represent some fun 'exclusives' in terms of modern retro platforms. Overall, I have enjoyed my Evercade experience so far despite moments of frustration. It's an interesting experiment that I hope will succeed.

Got this for myself, but my 12-year old daughter grabbed it first, based on seeing Dig Dug in Stranger Things recently. She had great fun with that, Centipede, Pac Man, Earthworm Jim and a few others before I managed to swipe it back - so Evercade could have a wider appeal than you might think beyond us grown-up-kids. Always good to have a high-score competition buddy. As for the Evercade unit, delighted at the overall feel, comfortable for extended play and easy on the eye with a solid, if plastic, feel to everything. The screen is crystal clear, the d-pad and large buttons are smooth in use. Haven't tried it on a TV yet! If you're a really old gamer, the cartridges are quite tight to fit and extract, so not sure what people without a strong grip might do? The button mapping can be a bit odd on some games, but a firmware update has sorted that if its an issue (there was one game where a face button quit the game, but the only example I'd noticed). Think the bundle is well worth the money, with great value in the early game packs, even if there are a few misses among the curated titles. Looking forward to the Atari Lynx collections and Xeno Crisis. Also later in the year when more arcade originals are promised. The future looks bright for this little handheld and I'll happily support it all the way. Guess it'd be cool if some of the money went to the original developers rather than whoever holds the copyright of the games, but maybe Blaze can sort that out.

As an older gamer I was intrigued by the concept of the Evercade platform, especially with its rather eclectic mix of games that you wouldn’t find on more conventional systems. However, upon charging then switching the device on, disappointment quickly set it. I can safely say that I’ve never owned a mobile device with such a terrible screen. Light bleeding through the LCD panel with very narrow viewing angles meaning that the image is often spoiled by light streaming out. There’s a perfect angle to view the screen, which is basically dead on front and centre, however, since this is a portable device you’ll be pressing buttons and moving the Evercade generally meaning there’s no way to maintain the ideal viewing angle. On a positive note, ergonomically it’s really nice in the hands. The chunky nature of the design helps the comfort factor versus, say a Nintendo Switch Lite. The games appear to run well, however, I have nothing to compare them against. However, even if the games were the best gaming has ever seen, the screen is so bad that any enjoyment you may have had would be curtailed.

This is one of the best Rero games Machines out there! The display is clear and clean, the sound is good for a handheld, well built with a great retro feel to it . The buttons are nice and clicky, making it feel more responsive and the whole thing feels well made with nostalgia dripping off it. The games are in nice sets and really have a fresh feel to them .looking great and having the added bonus of being able to save games and continue later on games like double dragon etc . Great for casual pick up and put down gaming for when you don't have the time or energy for modern AAA gaming. And the price is very reasonable. In all well worth every penny . The games also double up as home console games if you purchase the home console edition known as the evercade vs.

The day one firmare patch was a lie. It doesn't allow you to remap buttons as suggested. They didn't even bother with non SNES games. So NO you can't use X as B for NES games. And MegaDrive games still have a stupid button layout. The buttons sometimes don't register inputs. The emulation is awful and full of graphical glitches. And the sound randomly cuts out. The position of the menu button is a design flaw. The battery life is atrocious. DO NOT BUY THIS TRASH

Estupenda videoconsola con unos acadabados muy buenos y realizada con mucho empeño, que nos permite jugar a juegos clasicos, cómo Double Dragoon, Earthworm Jim, Pac-man, etc, incluso con la opción de jugarla en modo portatil, o en modo tv, conectada mediante HDMI, sin duda merece mucho la pena esta consola y sus juegos oficiales, y muy recomendada a los coleccionistas de lo retro de los años 80, 90.

The first time I use the console, I had a hard time trying to slot in the catridge. It was even worst when I tried to pull the catridge out. It took me around 25 minutes (seriously) just to pull a bit/small gap hole between the slot and cartridge. I then decided to use a sturdy (but not sharp) plastic expired membership card to increase the gap until I manage to pull it out. Do it a few times and it won't be so hard to pull out anymore (it's still tight though). Make sure you update your console to the latest version, else your save file won't save at all (for some games). I tried to save and re-open one of the games, but found the save file empty. Everything else about this console is amazing, and so were the games. I had no issues running the games at all after I've updated.

Ottima console per retro gaming, sia la grafica che la qualita'di gioco, rispecchiano I videogiochi di una volta, anche quando la console e' connessa ad una Smart TV. Non vedo l'ora di comprare la cartuccia Code Masters, ovviamente per giocare al mitico Sensible Soccer.

Je suis fan de retro et en voyant une vidéo d'un youtubeur je me laisse tenté surtout qu'au moment ou je l'ai acheté le premium pack était au même prix que le starter pack. Cette console fait plutôt bien son job avec une bonne prise en main rien à voir avec tout se chinoiseries que l'on peu trouver et qui ne sont pas légal avec x jeux mais plusieurs fois le même et parfois même des clones horrible d'un jeu. Punaise qu'est ce ça fait du bien d'avoir une boîte, avec une cartouche et une petite notice. Les cartouches contiennent plusieurs jeux et ne sont pas très cher 20€ environ, de plus il me parait évident que si le succès de cette console continue d'autres cartouches verrons le jour. seul défait je dirais c'est qu'il manque l'adaptateur secteur usb ainsi que le câble mini hdmi vers hdmi pour la brancher à la télé mais tout cela peu s'acheter à part si on ne les possède pas déjà.
