The Blue Whale (Volume 1) (Endangered Animals, 1)

One of my favorite books ever about the blue whale, and I have read a lot of books about whales. This book is well-written, easy for my grandchildren to read, and gives facts about blue whales that I had not read before. It is a beautifully illustrated book in a large size that appeals to my grandchildren and to me! This book is the perfect blend of beautiful art and science that relates to my grandchildren and to me. For example, I like the comparisons in size to objects that I am familiar with. Before we read the book, I asked my grandchildren if they knew what color a blue whale's poo might be. Surprisingly at 6 and 7 they knew enough to think about what blue whales eat and logically conclude what color the poo would be. I will be looking for more Jenni Desmond books!

Great book that has made my daughter deeply empathetic to and interested in blue whales and sea creatures. This book makes whales seem fun, magical and also, deserving of our interest and curiosity. There are a ton of wonderful facts, great illustrations and everything is presented in a manner that both children and adults are learning and interested. I wish there were more books like this about science, animals or the world.

This book is a favorite in our house. One of my sons really loves whales and this book is perfect for him. The illustrations are beautiful and really show how big a whale is. We ended up going outside with a long tape measure and marking the sidewalk with chalk to show how long the whale would be (even I was surprised!) so it really got my son interested in learning more. He also loves that the kid in the book is reading the same book we are. Very cute and well done.

Beautiful book with a ton of insightful facts. Who new The blue whale has a narrow throat, and can only swallow a grapefruit size amout at a time? Written for children in mind but very interesting and captures everyone's attention with the neat facts and simple but beautiful illustrations.

Purchased as a Christmas gift. Looked very nice.

My 4 year old loves whales. Blue whales are her favorite. We found this book at our local library, but after reading it, I knew I needed to buy a copy. It's a great mix of facts and kid-friendly illustrations. I wish I could find more books about other animals and topics, just like this one!

I decorated my grandson's bedroom with a whale theme. This is an exceptional book with wonderful facts about blue whales presented in a way it will be easy for him to understand. The illustrations are dreamy!

I purchased three different books that are similar to this one and althoughtbthey are still a little much for my two year old i loved the pictures so im keeping them and im going to try and read to him to see if he likes them. He does have me read volcano books to him

Dreamy and wonderfully illustrated. A perfect gift for a kid but also for adults. The story is simple, just an excuse to give details about these amazing giant mammals.
