iButton bliss!
I've used the iButton temperature data loggers in two different commercial food processing applications and it worked as advertised. I was able to set missions up to measure at various intervals and at different temperature ranges without any issues. It may be a bit expensive ($125 for the complete kit) for personal use but for commercial use, it's a bargain. I like the fact that it works inside a food product without any wires or large electronic reading devices. You just toss or push it into a product and away it goes, just be sure to mark your sample so it's easy to retrieve. Then you just plug it in and export it onto Excel and you're good to go. Upper management likes the graphs and the multiple data points. I got the extra iButtons in case I lose one or if I want to measure multiple products.

Useful device for logging of temperature over a programmable timeframe
I have used both thermochrons and hygrochrons for everything from testing camping gear, to gardening applications (temperature/humidity monitoring in my garden greenhouses) to temperature monitoring in the house. Terrific product, though the prices now seem way too steep; my old hygrochron for which I paid $50 ten years ago died and at $150 I won't get another! Still, a wonderful product. Wish you would offer light intensity loggers, sound intensity loggers, and possibly barometric loggers. My technical knowhow is limited to the Ibuttons, and I've not tried any custom programming. I do find the Java application an easy way to mission and download, and I like the ability to create a .csv file for Excel for the purpose of custom graphing. Overall a wonderfully useful and ingenious product, marred only for the average (rather than industrial) user by what seems an overly high cost per button, and a limited range of loggers.
