The Best 5e Expansion Book by a country mile
I have been collecting these books for a little while now, and it's always a treat to pore through the pages and learn the new lore and check out the new art work, but I'm always underwhelmed by the quantity of new info that you get. Most books give you a handful of new ways to play existing classes (which you could have easily homebrewed), Eberron is the only book that gives you an entire new class, several new playable races, and a whole new world, rich with lore and adventure to explore - there's even a map, nay at atlas of this vast new world!! If you only buy one additional 5e book, make it this one - there's everything from robots to dinosaurs and I can't wait to run it!!

A uniquely compelling world of diverse adventure...
When I first stumbled upon the world of Eberron back in the mists of 3rd edition it seemed as though it wanted to be all things to all men. High magic, gritty noir, overblown pulp, Cold War intrigue, steam punk, demons, dragons, dinosaurs... a heady mix of themes that left you dizzy and not quite knowing where you were. But things have moved on from those 3rd edition days. The imaginations of gamers have broadened out from their isolated pockets of single-genre play. Somehow it no longer feels like heresy to mix Conan-style sword and sorcery with Renaissance intrigue, technological magic and weird horror. Classic D&D settings still thrive (Frog God Games’ Lost Lands and Chaosium’s Glorantha being great examples), but increasingly publishers are reaching for more ambitious realms (Kobold Press’ Midgard or Fat Goblin Games’ Shadows Over Vathak to name but two). With this 5th edition version of Eberron, Wizards of the Coast have hit the mark and found the crest of the zeitgeist wave. In one compact volume (320 pages + colour map) they have sketched an exciting and original campaign setting that provides myriad options to DMs and players to create any kind of adventure they desire. There are new racial options (Changelings, Orcs, Lycanthropic Shifters, Warforged automatons), ability-enhancing Dragonmarks, patrons, rivals and factions galore, a tantalising gazetteer and a detailed guide to the City of Sharn. A short first-level adventure is included for example and flavour. The layout and artwork are also superb, meeting the high standards Wizards of the Coast have set themselves with the 5e range. The obligatory new magic items and bestiary are also here, but perhaps best is the section on “Building Eberron Adventures”, which really helps to get under the skin of this world and explore what makes it unique. With this great addition to the mercifully excellent 5th edition rules, Jeremy Crawford, James Wyatt and Keith Baker have managed to pull together what could easily have been an horrific mess of a setting into a cohesive and compelling whole. Since the 2nd edition of the game under TSR, its creators have always been open-minded to settings that push beyond standard wizards and warriors fare. Post-apocalyptic, high-magic Eberron follows in the tradition of Spelljammer and Dark Sun to bring refreshing options and new ideas to the imaginations of players and DMs. Want to play a raptor-riding nomadic halfling? A spirit-bonded gunslinging sorcerer? A symbiotically amorphous Druidic orc? You can in Eberron...

Everything you need to run a campaign in Eberron
An impressive campaign guide and sourcebook. Over 300 pages detailing all aspects of the world of Eberron as well as an introductory adventure suitable for beginners. The double-sided poster map is great quality.

Intellectual D&Ders only!
Politics, espionage, duplicity, and judgments made from limited information; this is a setting of great complexity. It scores 5 stars but you and your players must be ready for the sophisticated game that D&D can be.

Content great, print finish poor.
I have a lot of D&D books so I have many direct comparisons. Content is excellent and the book is packed with info. Every sentence carries something of value. Probably the most useful one I have after my PHB and MM (DMG does not make it to that list). But, the print line up on the cover is off, with some on the back cover and 5mm of the cover on the spine. Does it look ugly on the shelf with all my other books? It's too ugly to be on the shelf, and will have to stay in a cupboard. Very dissapointing considering the premium price of WotC products.

Another great 5e supplement for DMs and players!
I prefer my RPG sourcebooks to have a fair amount of "crunch" in them, which is to say rules, character options, magic items, monster/NPC stat blocks, etc. This book does a great job of introducing the world of Eberron to folks who might not have used it as a setting before and reintroducing it to those who have, and it's got lore and worldbuilding about the world in abundance. But I was so glad to see that it contains a lot of crunch to accompany that fluff. A whole bunch of new options for types or sub-types of humanoid you can play as, the first fully official new class for 5e since the PHB, and a campaign with NPCs, magic items and monsters unique to the world of Eberron, but which could easily be borrowed for other campaigns. If you're interested in Eberron itself this book is an absolute must, but even if you're just looking to expand the options for your play in a general sense, I'd still recommend it highly!

Best DnD book to date.
This setting is by far the most exciting. Train heists, flying ships, mechanical robots. For DM it is amazing, if your adventures are fairly freeform. It's great for players to get some inspiration for where to take adventures, as well as for the playable races.

This book has a lot of content. It has so much more than the synopsis says. It comes with a huge map of the continent of Khorvaire, and behind it, the WHOLE WORLD of Eberron. It has updates on all of the common races in the PHB and some other books, and has (now officialized) Changelings, Kalashtar, Shifters and the Warforged. It also has the new Artificer class (the reason I bought this book). A lot of unique items (some very interesting symbiotic ones), Campaign guides, terrain guides, and many new ideas on how to set up a Campaign in the world (mainly Khorvaire). And to top it off, it has the group patron, which adds a new interesting mechanic to the game, but, the best thing I found, was the draconic marks. Damn are they freaking nice. I was making a Warlock to play on my new campaign, and these add so much more possibilities (and they aren't limited by class, race or W/E). Basically, new subclasses for daaaays. And I've seen this all by being with the book in less than 2 hours. There's much more I haven't seen, of that I am certain of. I really recommend this book, if you've still not understood my message.
