SEcond review after one year. Quality scanning and printing. Economical to use. Worth the price.
I've been using this for a year with a MAC, for photo printing, photo scanning, OCR, etc. I've been more than happy. 1. Photo printing: I use high quality aftermarket inks and high quality photo papers. This model (TS8320) produces vibrant prints with very good match to screen image. 2. Registering paper type: This is important for high quality prints. Different types/brands of papers print differently. This applies both across and within brands. The TS8320 has a touch screen function that allows you to register the paper type to the printer (eg: Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy-II, etc. ) to make best use of the paper type. 3. Scan software: The provided Canon IJ Scan Utility Lite software allows you to produce Jpg's, PDF's and OCR docuyments. It is OK but a bit clunky. I prefer VueScan, which provides more functionality. But if you don't want to invest in aftermarket software the provided utility works fine. 4. Scan quality: The scanner provides reliable copies that match the originals quite well. You may want to tweak the output using a photo editor, but overall, the results are good. 5. Ink: The ink that ships with the printer is not labeled "high capacity", but it lasted longer than I expected. When they ran out I ordered OSIR XXL high capacity cartridges, which produce high quality prints and a lot more bang for the buck than the OEM versions. 6. OCR: The provided software does a decent job of recognizing text, but if you do a lot of OCR it's best to invest in after market OCR software such as FineReader, etc. Conclusion: For the price, its hard to beat this combo printer/scanner.

Smitten, Over The Moon & Back!
And so, my seemingly doomed quest for the perfect printer to replace my old workhorse HP all-in-one has *finally* met its end. What a journey it has been. A new and quite beautiful relationship has started to bloom betwixt myself and this Canon TS8320. (Psst....Scroll down to the TL;DR note at the bottom if you’ve got better things to do/would prefer a brief summary) First, this printer is an absolute unit. A magnificent blessing that provides unconventional design elements and photo prints that initially moved me to tears—in contrast to what I’d grown accustomed to over my two year relationship with my old HP (RIP). That being said... Set up was not as easy as an HP—and that was more than okay. Because this printer has so much magic to give, taking my time during setup was not a hassle. This Canon (I did christen her with a name, but will keep that to myself) She prints perfectly for my needs, which is primarily photo and label printing. I have never been so in love with a printer, people. That being said—what’s the deal with the low/average print-quality rating? I am baffled by this, as the prints this babe has crafted for me are simply stunning. I’m still scratching my head over that one, and wonder how such beauty could be dismissed with such a low print quality rating. Below are the “Pros and Cons” from my experience and relationship with this Canon powerhouse; for good measure. PROS: •Top scanner cover allows extra height for scans of items thicker than a simple piece of paper. •Aesthetically Pleasing! When closed up, the square concept and sharp lines are truly gorgeous. •Touch screen: The size of the sharp and clean screen...and its responsiveness!..are phenomenal. I don’t feel like a giant using a tiny humans computer, smashing buttons inaccurately, etc. It is quite comfortable and quick! •”Paper Type” selection is quite expansive and impressive. • Photo Tray/Feed Sensors are SMART and save 28+ steps I was used to enduring when using the old HP. I am still amazed at how quickly it registers the paper and size (and moreover, even the type.) •The amount of print settings AND specific cleaning options well exceed the basic clean “Page smear” and “print heads” options I am used to. I will need to do additional research into the use of each available feature and its function as it correlates to printer maintenance. “CONS” •Set up...Not extremely friendly to the impatient nor those who are just starting out with tech set up stuff. Also, the total time you will spend ensuring proper set up is an investment—but your patience will pay off, it is worth it, this I promise you. •Mechanical Things: the printing tray that slides out (and back in upon shutting down) is a bit of a novelty. I dig it, it’s kind of futuristic and neat, but I worry that it is a function that might deteriorate over time/without proper care. Also there weren’t clear instructions that detailed how to properly close the front cover or the fancy protruding tray—I pushed the tray closed initially...which is NOT really advised, now that I understand it closes upon shutoff (my heart still hurts from discovering that) also...I am still not entirely sure if pushing it closed is proper, though I’d genuinely prefer it to be. I don’t want to rely on mechanics for this function (as they could be better utilized elsewhere) but I would rather be able to do it myself, independent from the unit. All in all, it took me a long while to finally pull the trigger on this one. I did so much research and compared countless printer types/brands/their corresponding reviews/etc. I bought another one prior to this one that I returned almost immediately. Thank goodness, too. This Canon printer and I will be very, very happy together. TL;DR If you’re looking for a super versatile workhorse printer that meets all of your needs and demands this might not be for you—I’d recommend a different “all-in-one” option. If you’re looking to mainly print photos that will do your digital images the justice they deserve (if not more!) this just might be the droid you’ve been looking for. Thanks for reading my printer ranting saga; you the real MVP, Amazon smart-shopper!

Seems flimsy but does the job
Bought this to replace the previous Canon MX series which developed the infamous Canon paper jam error that occurs on almost every one of their inkjet printers and can't be cleared by any means, which basically means you have to throw the printer away. On this printer, the paper trays are flimsy and too automated, would prefer a more static printer without so many moving parts and better paper capacity, hence why I took a star off the review. Printer driver was easy, it used the previous MX series universal drivers, so setup was smooth. So the setup disk was a redundant step. It doesn't let you know that the driver is already installed. The scanner app and other stuff that is in the software did not change so it makes the learning curve much easier, print quality is great, typical good Canon photo prints, but inks are more expensive than ever. Very small and boxy design, doesn't take much desk space, but I would sacrifice desk space for a more robust design that I felt would hold up longer and if Canon could work on that infamous paper jam error that ruins the entire printer, we would be grateful. We'd like to get more than just a few years out of a printer, instead, it seems like we have to replace the printer every two or three years, which is wasteful. Also, you;re left with a bunch of ink cartridges that can't be used with any new printer you buy, Canon sure knows how to screw you out of your money. But we continue to buy them because nobody else seems to have as good of photo paper print quality as Canon does for our sales presentations at a good price, else you are spending way more for the printer and inks with other brands. Which would be fine if someone could assure me that a printer could last about 5 to 10 years and have the same excellent print quality, then we might spend a bit more, but so far, the" magic pixie" printer isn't to be found anywhere in the marketplace. The closest I've found is my Epson RX series at home, it's lasted for over ten years with occasional use but you can't get original cartridges for it anymore, so I use generics, which doesn't render good photo prints, which forced me to buy a large format Epson just for photos, which has been excellent so far. The old RX series from Epson just keeps going on my desk at home. But for constant office use at work, the Canons have worked well, even though we have to replace them too often. We recommend buying the highest capacity genuine cartridges from Canon you can, these printers do have standard, large and extra large capacity cartridges for the black tanks. They cost more initially, but what you save on ink in the long run makes up for it.

Nice Little Printer - Dash Toner Auto Replenishment doesn't work (for me)
I really like this little printer in spite of some minor and tolerable shortcomings. 1. Never could get the "Dash toner auto replenishment" thing to work. There's no help available from Canon right now and no useful instructions with the printer or from the Amazon download. The Amazon download file is pretty laughable in fact. I went to the Canon website and it offered "live chat" but the chatbot simply said "call sales at "800-xxx-xxxx". I called the number and got a recording warning me that everyone was working from home (good for them - seriously). The answerbot attempted to do a remote connect fo someone who was working from home but the connection failed miserably. I may try again in a couple of months, or whenever the virus is brought under control. In the meantime I hope all the Canon people do stay home and protect themselves 2. Photo print quality isn't up to Canon's typical high standards but since I don't print many photos, I'm not concerned by it 3. Setup (other than Dash) was easy and quick if you use a smartphone to do the setup. It's much less intuitive or easy if you want to use a PC to do your setup, but it eventually works with a PC too 4. I would definitely buy this printer again

Worked well for a few months
There are several pros for this printer but I had to give it one star because the build quality is just that bad. I purchased the Canon PIXMA TS8320 in September 2019. The first printer I received was dead on arrival--couldn't even complete the setup process. Replacement through Amazon was quick and easy. The second printer worked perfectly, except for the so-so scanner. While I got great colors when printing, the scanner tended to wash out images, requiring some post-scan photo editing to improve color and saturation. After printing about 500 pages over the course of 6 months, every single page I attempted to print jammed. At first I though the print rollers were just dirty, even though I perform regular maintenance to avoid buildup. I ran the roller cleanup cycle several times, along with every other diagnostic, but every time i'd print a test page, paper would immediately jam because the rollers simply weren't moving. After spending several hours working on the printer to try to repair it, I realized it was done for. This printer is all aesthetics--it is definitely the most eye-catching printer I've owned. If you only need to print once in a blue moon, then you may be able to get away with the Canon PIXMA TS8320, but for anyone looking to print on a regular basis or scanning anything more than black and white documents, look elsewhere. Pros: -High print quality for the price -Aesthetically pleasing -Well-designed touchscreen -Easy setup -Expansive suite of cleaning/diagnostic tools--far more than I'm used to seeing at this price point -Auto scan feature works well for scanning multiple small items at once--crops each item and saves them individually Cons: -Inconsistent build quality--received one DOA and the replacement broke after 6 months -Washed-out image scanning -The print tray auto extends, but doesn't auto retract -Had to frequently re-calibrate -Uses A LOT of ink or there's just not much ink the cartridges to begin with--had to replace the cartridges twice for 500 pages. Of course, I also had to frequently run cleaning and diagnostics, which use ink. -No black ink only option for printing

Love this printer!
I've had this printer for 3 months now and I'm really happy with it! I own a small business and print out my thank you cards and hang tags on card stock and also use it for a lot of general printing so when I was researching printers I wanted one with separate ink cartridges. After doing some research, comparing reviews and price, I decided to go with this one. Prior to this, I had a Canon Pixma MG 2522 that I bought on sale for a really cheap price. Then I decided to "upgrade" to the Pixma MG 3620 (got on sale for about $50). The MG 3620 was the worst printer that I've ever owned, it was noisy, slow, and used a ton of ink. I actually went back to the MG 2522 until I bought this one. I'm only mentioning that because even though they are the same brand, this printer is so much better, so I wouldn't let a bad experience with one model deter you from considering this one! The ink lasts longer, it has a lot of settings for paper type and size, and the display screen is a nice feature to have. Most importantly, the print quality is good and the ink lasts much longer! I've replaced the ink once so far (just cyan and magenta), and had no issues using a generic brand ink, which made it even more affordable. The only negative is that I have a hard time getting it to stay connected to my wifi network. I don't think it came with a usb (could be wrong though) but I'm thinking about using that instead of the wireless connection. Aside from that small issue, it's the perfect printer for my needs!

Printer works fine. Software not so much
This is an early review. I unpacked and installed it about 7 days ago. I will say I have had HP printers for many many years starting with the 1st being the original HP Deskjet. That was a great little printer. I have purchased nothing but HP printers for the last 20 years at least. But HP is just not the same (it seems) anymore. And most of them in this price range were not rated as well as this Canon. So I read all the reviews, looked at the features and decided to buy this Canon TS8320. Seems like some of the negative reviews were correct. But this printer does not deserve a 1 or 2 stars. 1st. setting up the printer: This printer took forever to get installed and actually printing. I expected it to take less then an hour. I am a very seasoned IT professional and I have installed a whole lot of hardware and software over my years, so it had nothing to do with being a novice. A novice would have just returned it. I am not kidding, it took me all afternoon. I have it setup to use my WiFi. Maybe installing another way (LAN or USB) would be fine. But my now broken 6 year old HP was setup that way and I really hoped I could just replace the HP quickly and move on. And by the way, the printer is right on my desk and no more then 4 feet from my router. I could never get it to work at all with 5 Ghz n. Yes, it saw my SSID, but would never connect to it. For as long as I have had 5Ghz, I have never had any device not connect almost immediately. After much grief, I hooked it up to my 2.4 Ghz g and got it to work. The printer does work just fine. It is faster then my HP (it should be, the HP was 6 years old), with print quality about the same. No complaints here. The paper tray/input is a little weird, but it works fine so far. As another review said, it does seem a little flimsy. But I hope it holds up. It is just a printer for home use, so will not be printing a lot (in the scope of things). The paper output tray retracting seems like a nice feature, but so far I have not found out how to turn off the printer without it asking me every-time if I wanted it to retract the output tray. So I am just leaving it out all the time to avoid the unnecessary frustration. So a nice feature if it worked without a hassle. 2nd thing is the scanner: Well, here I am almost a week later and I can not get the scanner to work with the provided Canon software. One of the reviews said just how bad the "software" was, I assume that person must have been talking about the scanner. And by the way, I download the most recent drivers from Canon. No problem with my computer recognizing it, but the "software" does not like it for some reason and dies every-time I try to use it. I have not been able to do even one successful scan with the provided software. Color or black and white or whatever. It just dies and will not work. I am running Windows 10 and I decided to try Win 10 Scan and Fax software that is just a free accessory that comes with Win 10. With no configuration at all, it saw the scanner and allowed me to scan in various modes. But in Windows it is all graphics modes of some sort. But it scans just fine and I can work with it. But it would sure be nice to have the provided software work with the features that do seem rather nice, if they worked. So I will not be returning it. I need a printer and this one does work. I need to scan occasionally and this one can work with the Windows standard software. But overall I am a little disappointed. Again, being an IT professional, I can only say that their testing of their software must not have been very through. It probably works just fine with some of their equipment, but it is terrible for this TS8320. More later as I get a little more time with it. I plan to glean everything I can from the downloaded manual and see if I can figure out what is going on. Their little bitty document that came with the printer was virtually worthless in resolving my problems. And if I still can't get it to work, I may try their "tech support". I don't have high hopes on that, but we shall see. Probably the same folks who wrote this great software. So more later ... update 12/09/20 My grips on the wifi remain the same, but I finally decided to try the usb connection. Usb works just fine both as a printer and as a scanner. But of course that means it is only useable on a single computer at a time. I would have much rather had it on my network so all my computers and other devices could have used it. But... it is what it is. The printer works just fine, but due to the wifi setup issues, I still cannot increase the number of star.

Good all-in-one, but...
After nearly ten years, I had to replace my printer, and there's quite a few options. The TS8320 is solid, but has a lot of good and a few not-so-good points: 1. Print quality. The intensity and quality of the printing is outstanding - even with smaller print faces. 2. Price, overall. While the price of the printer was reasonable, the toner isn't necessarily cheap. Of course, you can purchase Canon toner - which is uniformly excellent - or rely on a third-party ink at a fraction of the price. I'm going to try to stay with Canon toner, but it makes a lot of sense to be "paperless" as much as possible. 3. Setup. Not exactly easy, but I'm used to setting up hardware without instructions. It took a lot of trial and error to figure out how to manage air-printing, and I was really bothered by the fact that the scanning software was so...barebones. I ended up relying on Apple's scanning software. 4. Loudness. Certainly not as relatively noiseless as a laser printer, but the TS8320 is only moderately noisy. 5. Welcome features. Air-print is a great feature, which reduces the amount of cables.
