Perfect for Celtic Sea Salt
We use Celtic Sea Salt exclusively, which I buy in 5 lb. bags. However, the salt is damp and the crystals are irregular, which defeats most salt grinders, and sadly we had a number of fancy but useless grinders banished to the back of the cupboard. We had one old grinder that did an excellent job of grinding the salt, but over time the plastic parts became brittle, and eventually the grinder went from cracked to disintegrated. My husband MacGyvered it so it could still function, as I went on a search for something more presentable. This is it. While it's not fancy, it has no problem dealing with Celtic Sea Salt. As you can see from the picture, the grinding mechanism is on top - so when it's stored there are no more little white rings of pulverized salt left behind. It holds a lot of crystals so it doesn't need to be refilled all the time. Our old grinder was given a decent burial, and all the failed ones went to Salvation Army. This salt lover's search has finally come to an end.

Functional reliable ceramic mills- going strong almost 2 years later
These are awesome spice mills. I bought two, one for large salt crystals such as Himalayan pink and one for whole peppercorns. They are workhorses. I bought both in January of 2018, and now, July of 2019 they're both still going strong. They have never clogged once, and their grind is consistent with both the salt and peppercorns. Believe me, we go through TONS of pepper and have never had a problem. I'm thinking of buying a couple more for other spices such as dried garlic. These get two hearty thumbs up from this culinary inclined family!Update May 2020: bought one more for dried garlic. My two originals are still going strong! I love these workhorses.

Loved the old model
Loved the old model much better. Unfortunately, it fell and broke. We've had this salt grinder for a while now. Purchased it to grind the gray sea salt. It seemed to work ok at first and now it hardly grinds. Have to grind and grind to get it to produce salt. We've tried adjusting settings - does not work well.

Nice looking; works well
We have only had this for a month or so, but so far it seems to work very nicely. The cap snaps on and off which -for reasons I can’t explain- takes a little getting-used-to. We both keep wanting to unscrew it even though we know better. Of course this is just a quirk and not a problem. I do note that other reviews mention that there’s a metal spring in the mechanism but it’s not visible so even if the salt corrodes it, I’ll probably never know. I’ll mention that the salt I’m using in the grinder is a medium size crystal - not a very large crystal like Kosher salt, for example. Perhaps that’s the reason others have had some problems while mine is working very well.

Unable to refill. Does not grind very fine.
Long Term Report, downgraded to 1 star -- This is a ONE TIME USE product. Every time the contents are ground, the threads are tightened. This makes it nearly impossible to unscrew the mechanism for refill. On second attempt to unscrew and refill, the plactic threads cracked and became damaged due to the HUGE amount of force necessary to unscrew the thing.Although the grind is adjusable, the design does not permit a very fine result.

What I love most is the consistent grind . . .
Love these mills. I have the older versions too. These new ones are a bit bigger overall to accommodate a larger top that's easier to get off than the previous iteration. I have three in different colors for pepper and different salts. The ceramic grinding surface means they last forever, but what I love most is the consistent grind. The delivery system is so accurate that I can season without even looking. Really top-notch bit of gear.

Fell apart about the 10th time I used it
I purchased this product in 2016. I filled it with white peppercorns, which I don't use very much at all, so it has sat in my cabinet mostly unused. A few days ago, I decided to add some white pepper to a dish and the grinder got stuck for a second and then completely broke so that it's no longer usable. Consider a different product.

Nice grinder, if you are not interested in grinding ...
Nice grinder, if you are not interested in grinding anything. Or don't like your food seasoned. It has a hard time grinding black pepper, and salt is just too hard for this thing. You will be left twisting and twisting for minutes just to get salt on your steak. And don't even think of using slightly damp sea salt, it will flat out not grind anything at all.On the plus side it's nice looking... but since it's now sitting at the back of a cupboard, there is little point to that, is there?

Not good for Flax Seeds
This one of the few Amazon purchases I have regretted. I bought it to grind flax seed. It takes an overly long time to get a nice sprinkling of ground seed over a bowl of yoghurt or fruit. Plan on replacing with something different.

EVERYONE should own one!
A family member works in the engineering industry and was familiar with kyocera as a quality ceramics supplier. They highly recommended that I try out the salt and pepper grinders and I am glad that I took their advice. I've been looking for the perfect mill for a long time and I've been dissatisfied with the plastic pieces as I've had a couple of them break on me and end up in the food. I have no such worries with these ones and I was so impressed with the pepper milll I promptly ordered another one for my rock salt. The holder is ergonomically shaped and I like that it is made of glass. I can see myself using this for a long time to come and I think the price tag is worth it in the long run. I am completely satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it to others.

works amazing for salt
I used to put salt in my hario spice grinder but was having difficulty grinding anything out. The plastic grind teeth just doesn’t grind anything, nothing comes out. I have since switch to kyocera as the teeth are ceramic and they works like wonder grinding up the salt with ease. One thing to take note about about putting salt in any grinder is never to get anything with metal or stainless steel component inside as it will rust and corrode over time.If the salt crystals get too moist over time (which can happen in a humid environment), just pour them out on a sauce pan and dry fry them for 5-10mins to remove excess moisture.

Works well
Works well. Been using ceramic knives for a while now and had started using this as well. The previous one I had (same model) finally broke after almost 10 years, - plastic broke when it was dropped, the ceramic burrs still were fine. It's cermic so no need to work about the metal corrosion. Space saver, since it's salt and pepper in one.
