Avoid this camera at all costs
This camera shouldn't of even been released by Canon. I'm a huge fan of Canon cameras but this camera is so poor with is auto focus on videos. I saw some reviews on the camera and saw it was released with poor auto focus for vloggers. I done my research and apparently the Firmware update had fixed a lot of the auto focus issues. How far from the truth. 1. The new firmware was'nt any better for vlogging and the camera really cant figure out what to focus on. It would just un-focus and re-focus for no reason while recording. 2. This company gave a refund of £110 less than what we paid for it because now it's classed as used. They said they found no faults and the camera is now in used condition, even though the camera was in brand new condition and used for 5 days and returned. We never said there were faults just we weren't happy with the product. To be honest, this is appalling customer satisfaction, considering other shops would give a you a full refund within 30 days on the high street. Just don't bother with this camera and go for the Sony ZV-1. I got this from John Lewis after we got our 'reduced refund'.

Superb results and functionality
I love this camera. With the caveat that I brought it primarily for the purpose of having something compact that allowed me to take good quality stills shots with a high level of easily accessible override (so I haven't yet tested the video functionality or tried to use as a webcam) I really couldn't want for any more. I did buy a decent spec of a brand name (Integral) SD card and certainly using this, things like burst mode are impressively fast and it seems to be coping fine with being set to save both a JPEG and RAW image. My original intent was to buy it to fill the gap between my regular Canon Compact (an also excellent IXUS) and my ageing Fuji 'bridge' camera while I considered Mirrorless/similar, but given its convenient size and great quality images, I may just stick with this as my main 'proper' camera. If I do decide to save up for a larger camera too, this one it great for keeping in practice with traditional advanced camera settings in the meantime. The tilting screen with ability to flip 'up and over' so it's facing you for selfies etc. is really handy, and the controls which basically give you a similar range of options to Mirrorless/DSLRs are well considered and easily accessible. I didn't think I'd make much use of the touchscreen, as I'm use to button navigation but actually really handy for setting the focus point and dragging the image around when zooming in on the camera screen to check photo's you've taken. There's a Canon mobile app available to take remote shots which is also handy if you want to add location data to your photo's or are taking shots at angles where you can't easily see the camera screen. One of the things that appealed to me was the relatively wide (for a compact) aperture setting in conjunction with slightly larger sensor (e.g. compared to my IXUS). This has really delivered, allowing me a great degree of creative control over my photo's. If you're a vaguely serious photographer, you've probably spotted in reviews that there's an adjustment ring around the lens barrel (function variable according to mode the camera's being used in) and exposure adjustment via a dedicated dial around the mode knob, which are really helpful. Obviously there are compromises versus Mirrorless/DSLR and some of it's compact peers, but on the assumption that like me, you didn't find anything missing that mattered to you, the only small potential downside I'd mention is battery capacity. In practice, I haven't actually had a problem with it running out of power before I've finished taking photo's but I do plan to get a spare to take with me when genuine Canon ones come back into better general availability as it's not rated for taking loads and loads of shots before needing a charge. I suspect you can probably get portable PD chargers which would work with this camera but haven't investigated (and of course only helpful if you have time to wait for it to re-charge). On the power note, if you want to use an external wall charger it will also need to be a PD one. Looks like the built-in USB-C port on my laptop is (as I'd expect) doing equivalent when the laptop is powered on (I think the camera itself has to be 'off' for it to be charging, as the charge light goes off when I switch the camera on to transfer files).

User-Friendly and Versatile - Camera
As a beginner in photography with no formal training or knowledge, this camera has allowed me to take some of the best photos of my life. It’s easy to use with many tools. The ability to transfer photos to my phone via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth is incredible.

Bad focus
Auto focus pumps back and forth no matter how still the subject is. We found out after that the issue is widely known by reviewers on youtube

Disappointed the camera was supplied with a 2 pin plug (type B) rather than a 3 pin as required in the UAE (type G). Poor show as not mentioned.
