Universal Air Conditioner EV 4798711PFXC A/C Evaporator Core

I replaced my ac system in my 1998 Honda Civic Ex Coupe since the compressor was shot and it had no refrigerant. I bought this evaporator because during the overhaul I realized my old evaporator was rusty and leaking. I swapped it out and now it’s ice cold after I put everything back together and charged it. The only issue I had was that it didn’t fit 100% in the stock evaporator box. I had to slightly modify the box to fit it, but not a big deal. Other than that it works perfect.

Item did not fit, I specifically typed in my vehicle information and it did also popped up as universal fit/ claims it can fit. If I did had the old part out to say match-up I wouldn't have ordered this thing. Technology suppose to be smart by the information you give it guess not that was dumb. Double check twice, pay once thats my PointOfView

Great price and fast shipping. Customer support is great - answered phone and my questions. Unit had loose fitting clamps at inlet/outlet hose to core location. When clamp was snugged tightly the hoses still had a wobble and spun very easy. Tech at UAC suggested returning for exchange. I was in the middle of a giant overhaul for a daily driver and was at the halfway point of my week-long "vacation" - so I improvised. Removed clamps and peened them gently to make the gap a little smaller - some trial and error and eventually they worked. Have driven the car for a few weeks with no issues. I would buy from UAC again due to real, US-based customer support with techs who are mechanics.

It came packaged superbly, so I cannot understand how/why I had to bend the aluminum so much to get things in the right place for the expansion valve. Then, even when things seemed to be in place, the smaller pipe had to be forcefully sucked into position by tightening the nut, which I did after leaving it in the hot sun all day so the aluminum would be more pliable. It would only grab the very first thread and needed to come down almost 2cm to match up. After all that, the part that sticks through the firewall to connect to the rest of the lines ended up a little diagonal, but it managed to fit halfway decently. It's all installed now, and seemingly holding pressure, but I'll be keeping my UV light handy to check for leaks. If things turn out OK after several weeks I'll up my rating to a 4, but definitely at least one star off for having to bend the freaking thing so much to line everything up. That made me VERY uncomfortable.
