RAM Mounts Level Cup Drink Holder with B Size 1" Ball, Self-Leveling Cup Holder for Cans & Small Bottles RAM-B-132BU

For some reason it is very difficult to find an aftermarket cup holder that is made from quality materials. Everyone seems to be targeting a cost of $10 or less and sells cheap, cheap, cheap products as a result. This is made by RAM and the materials are top quality. The classic ram simplicity allows you to easily adjust the angles and placement during installation. A few extra bucks more, but well worth it. The only caveat would be on cup/bottle size. I use this for 12 oz cans and 20 oz bottles of water and soda. Sometimes I use it with reasonably sized thermal mug as well. It works perfectly for all of these. If, however, you intend to use it with the increasingly ridiculous monster mugs, cans and bottles out there you may have a problem. These oversized containers are top heavy and can cause the holder to become unstable. Stick with normal sized cans and bottles and you'll be good to go.

Works good, i use a contigo cup and its very loose in the holder so i fold a small microfiber towel on top of the holder then set the cup in so the towel goes around the cup, keeps it from moving/vibrating so much.

Well made (mostly), like most of the RAM products. And as long it is still attached to the bike, it works really well. The first one I had, the screw holding the cup to the swingarm came out, at speed, and it shattered on the road. I figured it was user error. The second one did the same thing, within three weeks of using it, but this time I caught it. I figured I just had to tighten down the screw that holds it together. No. If you tighten the screw, it no longer pivots, making it useless. If you leave it untightened, to enjoy the swivel action, the screw works its way out in short order. The screw is threaded through the entire shaft. This is a major design flaw, and could easily be fixed by using a shoulder bolt. On the second one, there was loktite on the threads, but it was blue, not red, and obviously wasn't enough to hold it. 2 stars because I can fix this, buy obtaining the proper shoulder bolt and applying red Loctite, but an engineering flaw this serious should get a 1 star. Edit: I called Ram Mount Tech Support and they were awesome. I started to explain what happened, and they cut me off mid sentence, and told me they would send me the XL cupholder, which does not have this design flaw, free of charge. I received my new cupholder within 48 hours. Top Notch Customer/Technical Service! Changed my rating from 2 to 4 stars. This particular product gets a 1 star, due to inherent design flaw that is easily fixed (I fixed mine with an $0.08 shoulder bolt), and RM knows about this, but for some unknown reason is unable to fix it themselves. Customer/Tech Support gets at least a 5+ star rating. And I am giving 5 stars to the new XL cupholder, as I have inspected it thoroughly, and can't find any real design flaws. Although it still does not use a shoulder bolt, it uses a regular bolt with an overly complicated bushing mechanism to deal with the problem, but looks solid. And the rest of the holder is good. Has adjustable depth, so larger/taller containers will work without tipping over.

First of all, I am biased, I have other Ram Mounts gear and I just love every bit of it! Still, I was a bit sceptical about this purchase because the item looked bulky and heavy. I also didn't realize that the actual holder part is plastic, I was used to all Ram parts being aluminum. Further I was skeptical about this items' ability to keep the cup upright to avoid spilling. Well, I must admit I fell in love with this thing from the moment I used it the first time. The whole rig is a bit bulky, and has a certain DIY flair to it, but that all suits me and my car interior perfectly. What's the most important, it works! Althouh the levelling is not absolutely perfect at all times, I have had zero spillage, although I fill my thermos cup (with a drinking lid, of course) to the max level, and my driving style is not timid. I am absolutely confident now, that there will be no spilling in normal driving situations. My thermos mug is a regular size, tapering form with a handle, it fits just perfect. The holder is very light, contrary to my suspicion, and the plastic seems very high quality and durable. I can place the cupholder to pretty much anywhere I want in the car, with additional Ram gear. My rig at the moment consists of a ProClip (Brodit) vehicle mount, RAM-B-347, RAM-B-201-A and the cupholder. I have ordered RAM-B-289 to attach my phone or ipad to the same ProClip. Sorry about the technical sounding naming of the parts, but the numbers are the easiest way to find them, if you are interested. All in all glad I got it, it's a great addition to my car! I use it every day and it's an fun part of my daily commute. Recommend!

Overall it's good. I got one that cracked at the screw area of the swivel arm. Looked like a bubble in the mold. Sent it back. I also feel that the screw that holds the swivel arm to the ball mount is too short. The mounting ball is tapped a half inch deep but the screw only goes in a quarter inch so even with Loctite is still manages to back itself out because it's not a good tight fit. If you tighten the screw down it doesn't swivel. I went to the hardware store to get a screw a quarter inch longer than the original and used red lock tight to secure it. I really wish ram mounts would address this area. It would be easy for them to use a different screw with a smooth shank to go through the swivel arm. It seems like they cheaper out here. All their other products are awesome with good fitment and tolerances. Not sure what happened with this cup holder though.

Have run two of these cup holders all summer and it's the only way to go for a holder in a boat. Bought a new fishing boat this spring and was busy rigging it up when it came to figuring out cup holders. The dealer I bought the boat from supplied some flip down stainless cup holders but I told them not to mount anything in the boat I wanted to drill the first hole in it. I was having a hard time figuring out were to mount them because I knew once they're mounted it was permanent. That's what makes these so great you can move them around or take them off all together complete adaptability and no holes in the boat with the separately bought RAM Twist-Lock Suction Cup Base (link below) . I had the self leveling cup holders in my old boat but they were the ones that mounted to a little clip they clipped into so holes and permanent. Knew that I loved the self leveling feature works good when bouncing around on the lake without spilling your beverage. I've had this mounted to my motorcycle for over 40,000 miles. I use it all the time. I ride long distances and can go about 300 miles between stops on one tank of fuel. Now I can make it gas stop to gas stop without having to stop for a drink. My favorite drink/cup to carry in it is the McDonalds large (Styrofoam) drink cup. It fits perfectly with just a little friction to keep it in place even when it is empty. It also does well with the energy drink size plastic bottles and most water bottles. I do NOT use it with an open can as it will splash when you hit a bump. The coozy that comes with it stays home. It does not work well with any drink that has a high center of gravity, such as some of the tall plastic insulated cups that taper from small to large at the top. Also, plastic or paper drink glasses from fast food restaurants will blow out of it when they are empty, as they are so light and too small to provide a friction fit. It is just now starting to get some where in the pivot points causing it the rattle a little when there is nothing in it (no weight). I like it enough that I have just ordered a new one. I would recommend this item to other motorcycle riders who ride on streets/paved roads. Not sure it would do well on the dirt.
