GREAT BUNK BEDS AND A FEW HINTS...
LOVE!!! Not just like. Let me tell ya WHY. I labored long and hard over many bunk bed reviews bouncing back and forth. I read the reviews about missing parts, cracked boards etc. I can say this, though. Not only did the company making this product do an amazing job, but the shipper and Amazon just ROCKED IT!!! LOOK, there are products you buy that are good, do the trick and you are happy. We sort of expect that, even though every package we get on time and in one piece is a finely tuned melody of production, QC, packaging, transport and delivery all coming together to make a song for each customer. It is a feat. We are really spoiled. So thanks all! Just sayin' On to my review: Yes, when this huge two piece delivery came to my door attached to two polite and very strong young men toting it seemingly effortlessly AND in record time (given how large this bunk bed set is), I was THRILLED!!! I got the triple bunk, because I have three grandkids and the two boys are climbers. The third grand is only 2months, but growing fast). When they stay at my house, which is endowed with only two bedrooms, I needed a place to let them play as well as sleep, while I kept the baby in her crib safely with me at night. So, that said, being that I bought the triple bunk I got TWO separate packages about 7' x 3' x 2' (approx.). When I opened the first package, I saw the directions for putting together the double (not triple) bunk. "Oh no", I exclaimed. I called Amazon, who promptly called me back and put me on the line with the shipping company. They did have the other manual on-line in a printable version. Although I had no printer. Sigh. Good thing I opened the second package. It contained the instruction manual (how to assemble) for the triple bunk. Yippeeee. I put these together on my own, MOSTLY. Run through and lay out all your pieces and hardware FIRST. Count the number of each (they even send the funky little hex wrench, which you will have an almost intimate relationship with by the time you complete putting it all together...lol). I have heard some people use a drill. Great! I did it the harder way. Signature "me" style. NOTE: there will be times YOU MUST HAVE TWO PEOPLE TO ASSEMBLE. You can do quite a bit of the tedious stuff yourself, but yeah, no way around it. Invite a strong friend over when you've done the most of it you can in your own and lure this person over promising pizza, beer and chocolate cake (plus a blazing fun time applying both brawn and brainwork to complete a worthy task..HA) So, this was not a simple project, but do-able. I was absolutely gob-smacked by the quality and sturdiness of the pieces all tagged with letters to identify them. Once together, I decided to buy bunkie boards by taking accurate measurements down to my local Home Depot (they cut large plywood sheeting for one dollar a cut). Bunkie boards add a bit more sturdiness and I felt I could use thinner foam type mattresses to give a higher rail for a bit more safety. You will learn NOT to put the backside of the bunk beds up against the wall, UNTIL you have the mattresses and bunkie boards in place. There are a few more helpful hints I am forgetting, but with patience, you will bother persevere AND conquer. Oh, and don't forget. Wait a day or two and then go through all the bolts and tighten them up a smidge more. If loose, tighten until snug. I could climb to the top bunk and I felt secure, so was their a slight give? Yes, of course, but it wasn't such that I felt there was any danger whatsoever. The only danger is them learning to climb up and down correctly and safely. Grandma needed to be there for that lesson. My gandboys are three and four years old (btw, no one will sleep on the top bunk until old enough - they are small enough yet to both fit in the bottom bunk, which suits me fine...they will grow) I do suggest buying some colorful soft need balls or toys that your kids can throw down safely from the upper bunk. My g'kiddoes need to be supervised by me and their little sister right now until they are more skilled at this. Fun safe stuff to throw down is a delight at this age (for some reason) Bottom line: I had zero problem with quality (one very small chip of paint, which with this size of a product was nominal, to me). Boards were not warped, holes aligned, hardware was all there and substantial (they did not look or feel cheap AT ALL). Instructions were mostly right on (and what wasn't was pretty easy to discover and work around) and easy to follow. These are such a fun way to save space and create a bedroom for more than one child, while leaving room for a play or study area (if your kids are older). Would I buy these again? Or recommend to another? ABSOLUTELY. The only thing that would have made this experience just a little bit better was having my bunkie boards precut and ready to go AND saving a few hundred bucks above the cost so I could hire it out together for me. YEP, that would have been dandy! As it was, I did OK and my purchasing experience left me in awe of the many hands that worked behind the scenes to get this Super Great piece of furniture into my home. The installer could have used more help (smiling) My grandsons LOVE THIS BUNK BED!!! They climb like monkeys!

Easy to Assemble, Sturdy, Safe!
I bought this for my granddaughters ages 4 and 5. I like that the bottom bunk is pretty much on the floor, so the younger child is totally safe. As some other reviews mentioned, I wasn't comfortable with the clearance to the build in rails with our current mattress, so until I can get a thinner mattress, I added a net-style bed rail to the top bunk. Our bed arrived completely intact, no damaged parts. The bed is very sturdy! There were mixed reviews on assembly. I am a 54 yo woman, and I was able to assemble it completely by myself in under 2.5 hours. The instructions were very easy to follow, both the pictures and the text. There were a couple of spots where I could definitely tell another set of hands would have been great, but don't rule this bed out if you need to assemble it alone. Be aware that there isn't one single spare screw or piece of hardware with this bed, so be careful you don't misplace something during assembly. I broke one dowel (my fault) and lost another (found it too late), but it didn't seem to affect the sturdiness of the construction. I think this bed will suit our needs for the next few years, at least. As some mentioned, the bottom bunk is pretty close to the top, so a bigger child would not be able to sit up in it -- kind of like Navy racks on the ships! Overall a great bed for the price!

Kids will love it.
I read a lot of good reviews for this bed and my sister purchased the triple for her girls however I have two boys that sleep on this now and in the future I may have to order the triple when my other son gets old enough for his big boy bed. First let me say that Amazon plays no games they delivered this thing at 6:30am my husband was asleep so I just dragged it in the house. When I opened it I was a little flustered because of some reviews I came in with the idea that it would be hard to assemble or it would be difficult to do by myself. I didn’t want to wait for my husband so I started on it on my own. I read the instructions first and found the tools I needed. (I used a screw gun because I couldn’t use only my strength for this) I got to work and IT WAS A BREEZE! I saw the parts I needed for each part so I started pulling all of those pieces out at once because well what you do on one side you do on the other. Pulled all the headboard and footboard pieces out for both bunks and got to work. If you are doing it on your own what I suggest is stacking the headboard and footboard for the top after you get the bottom done and standing. As I said I didn’t want to wait for my husband he had just gotten in from work at about 4am. So when you stack them do not screw the pieces for the top bunk in all the way until you have all of them in place to connect the head and foot boards. After that everything else was a breeze. My sons love their bed. My husband said we should have put my 2 year old on the top and my 7 year old on the bottom because my oldest fell off the bed before and broke his arm but I was like umm nope because my 2 year old will swan dive off the top bunk and sure enough my 2 year old climbs on his brothers bed when he is at school and jumps off the ladder. And the bed does not even budge. I didn’t buy a bunkie board and I’m okay with that decision because their mattresses fit fine and they are small enough to not make any indents on the mattress when they are on it. This bed is great I don’t have to worry about them having toys, trash and junk under it and I don’t have to worry about anyone crawling under it and kicking up my anxiety. It’s easy to move if I need to and it is small. I even laid down with my two year old on the bottom bunk and it didn’t move. Worth the buy.

Nice bunk beds
IMPORTANT!!! Be sure you pay attention to tiny holes and have a drill. I made the mistake of putting a few things backward or on the wrong side had to go back and fix it. Overall it’s a great bed. Sturdy, not too tall for smaller children. Only thing that sucked is it came with a few pieces scratched and dented but nothing serious. It’s currently a fort 😂 until the mattresses deliver

Good bed
Surprisingly this bed worked out pretty well. The quality is good and my daughters love their new bed. It was easy to put together, but pay attention to what sides have holes for the ladder and side rails, it’s easily mixed up and we had to take apart and reassemble. It says to get a mattress that’s no more than 6” deep, so I recommend either slightly bigger or getting a sheet of plywood to go under so the slats aren’t felt through the mattress. Overall happy with the purchase though.

Must have 2 people & Patience
Purchased this bed for my two boys and although it took some patience to put together we were very pleased. Fits well in our condo & I think it will serve our purpose for the next few years. Bed feels very sturdy and all pieces arrived undamaged. The directions were easy to follow and I’m overall happy with my purchase. Pairs well with our Amazon bedding and looks good in our mountain themed room. Make sure you have a second person handy and give your self time the first time that you make the beds- it takes some getting use to.

BEWARE OF EXTREME ODOR!!!!!!!
We were super excited to get these bunk beds for our triplets. We were specifically looking for something low for safety and something convertible for flexibility. We purchased two sets; they were fairly easy to assemble, but time consuming. The appearance, height, and convertible features of the beds are great- and our boys love them, which is why I gave one star instead of zero. Upon opening the beds, I noticed a strong chemical smell but chalked it up to a "new furniture smell." We assembled the beds in a wide open space, so the smell was not overwhelming. We then moved the bunk beds into our boys' room, which is much smaller. We immediately began to notice an increase in the intensity of the smell but continued to chalk it up to the new furniture smell and believed it would be gone after a couple of days. We are now on day 10 and there has been zero change in the severity of the odor. If we leave their bedroom door closed for any length of time, the smell is overpowering upon opening the door- and by overpowering I mean it is hard to breath in because the odor is so intense. In an attempt to problem solve, I consulted the DHP Website and found two articles titled: Dissipating Odors Explained and Dissipating Odors: Trouble-Shooting. The first article states "the smell should dissipate within a few days." The second lists ways to alleviate the "unpleasant odors." We have been following all of the recommendations including: running an air purifier 24/7; closing the door with a space heater & humidifier blowing on the beds 10 hours/day (the 2nd article claims heat and humidity can quicken the process); opening the windows and blowing box fans on the beds to air out the room right before bed; opening our boys' door at night and placing a box fan to blow out of their room for the whole night before starting the whole process over again the following day. We have been doing the above steps for SEVEN days and there has been ZERO change in the intensity of the odor. I decided to reach out to customer service as directed on the instruction manual. Upon contacting customer service, she stated "I apologize for the inconvenience" and shared links the articles I had already read (referenced above). I informed her I had already reviewed those and was doing all of the things listed on the trouble-shooting page; she replied "Please allow four weeks for the smell to dissipate and then contact us if not resolved" (conveniently, this would put me outside of the return window for the beds). I pointed out to her the article she linked states "the smell should dissipate within a few days" not FOUR WEEKS- she apologized for the inconvenience and stated her department deals with the defective or replacement parts and couldn't help me further. I informed her if I had been aware the product would be off-gassing for four weeks (likely longer based on what I am experiencing), I would NOT have purchased them- she advised me to return the beds through Amazon. So, now I am left with the decision to either take a gamble the beds will in fact stop reeking after FOUR WEEKS of doing all the things listed above -OR- disassemble the beds, figure out a way to repackage them and mail them back, and then re-assemble their old toddler beds until we get a replacement, only to go through the whole take-down/assembly/moving process a second time. Needless to say, I am VERY frustrated. I really wanted to love these beds- and I would if it were not for this extreme odor. I believe DHP was not honest/transparent in their own information- if the furniture actually takes 4+ weeks for the odors to dissipate, it should state this in the product information so buyers can make an informed decision before purchasing. I am also VERY disappointed in the response from their customer service team- they explicitly ask that customer service is contacted BEFORE returning the product to the retailer- but for what??? To be told its not their department that handles the issue (despite this falling into the category of a defective product) and to just return it to Amazon??? Waste of time. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere if you have plans to put these beds in a small or enclosed space- and if you decide to purchase them, have a plan for how you will tackle 4+ weeks of extreme chemical smell in your home.

A lot of hassle and could possibly injure a small child, but you know, other than that is great...
Okay, the lack of 5 stars is a big part of Amazon We ordered this item and was told it would be two weeks. No problem, it's a big item, I get it. We even scheduled a pick up date. I took time out of work to make sure I was home during pick up date. waited....waited...waited... Never showed up. I called Amazon and was informed it never shipped. After a LONG back and forth with amazon we finally had to purchase it again...even though they couldn't cancel the first one because it was stuck in a limbo of pending shipping- where they claimed they didn't have it yet the shipping company hadn't taken possession of it. Waited ANOTHER 2 weeks because apparently asking for a little faster shipping after a huge inconvenience was "going too far". Finally did arrive, but only after we reorder, tracked it every step of the way, and called each person in each process to make sure it actually was there. A MONTH AFTER RECEIVING THE SECOND ONE ORDERED the first one shows up at our doorstep! Even though it had been canceled at this point. Where it had been for the last two months, I have no idea. Clearly, their method of shipping large things has major issues. So if you are willing to fight through those issues and wait twice as long as should be...totally get this. The bed itself came in two boxes. the boxes were a little banged up on the outside, which did translate to a few dents here and there in the wood, but there was no way in heck I was going to send it back. I think the problem is the packing method. Not a lot of styrofoam just wood that butts right up to the box. Assembly wise: it wasn't crazy hard. In fact, I did about 60% of it by myself. The direction isn't the best to understand but once you get it for one, you just basically repeat for the others. Unfortunately, the directions are based on an alphabet system that is supposed to be on the wood. About half of our wood didn't have any stickers (not including the slats). So there was a lot of matching pieces to each other to try and figure out what letter it was supposed to be. Not impossible but just annoying and time-wasting. It is very sturdy except for one aspect...that NEARLY BROKE MY DAUGHTERS ARM!! The slats are designed to go in not laying flat so that the most wood is covering the mattress, but on their sides so that it's basically like a one-inch rail in increments along the bed. I didn't think it really mattered until she tried to climb into one of the upper bunks. Because they are narrow, and the bed is just slightly longer than a standard twin mattress, as soon as she used her arm and put pressure on the mattress to climb from the latter to the bed the mattress slipped right through the thin rail taking almost all her body with it. Luckily she didn't fall all the way through. It is a huge flaw though and we have had to put a wood sheet board between the slats and the mattress to keep it from happening again. To have to buy something extra to make this product safe, pretty much drops it's rating in my books pretty significantly. I am super bummed about the slat problem, because otherwise it is a pretty sturdy product with good quality wood.
