Great stuff
Best stuff. Created for the Imperial German Army during the First World War. Works on metal, wood, leather, and a minor wound treatment. Smells like black licorice at lower altitudes (under 6000 feet). At higher altitudes it smells like stinky foot cheese.

Fantastic oil with great packaging and utility.
I've heard people mention that the smell of this oil is weird. It doesn't bother me. I like the form factor of the pump spray with these cans. I use this on everything and can't imagine that there's a better product out there.

A Somewhat Smelly Classic in Gun Care
I guess there’s a reason this stuff has been around since dinosaurs roamed the earth—it really works well. I’m not a huge fan of the smell, however. Because Ballistol is so slick, I found that wearing Mechanix painters gloves with a nubby texture really helps when cleaning my guns.

Great lubricant!
Great lubricant. And I specifically prefer no aerosol. But…The lack of a pre-prepped lid (how hard would it be to manufacture with a punch-hole? Not hard), and the flimsy squirt nozzles, definitely are notable.

Works well on older guns.
I have several older shotguns. The oroduct works as advertised.

Nothing comes close
Great preservative for traditional wood stock, anything steel , makes leather last for ever, no mildew, drying or cracking. non toxic. plastic safe. rubber safe. Persistent non evaporating. Keep a wetted chamois in a jar and use it to wipe down everything. decent smokeless powder solvent. water soluble great for muzzle loader cleaning. I've heard you can disinfect wounds with it. It's spendy but a little bit goes a long way and there really isn't any other product that could even be considered a knock off. Somehow they have managed to guard the secret of this stuff for well over a century. If you own guns, knives, axes, tomahawks , swords, saddles harnesses etc. you should try this stuff at least once.

Non aerosol is good
Better than the aerosol. Doesn't pollute the environment. More cost efficient as compared to the aerosol.
