I cut my boxes up so I can't give dimensions but the Unit comes in two boxes. One for the head unit (radio/cd player). And one for the speakers. I do remember the shipping company saying that the speaker box weight was a total of 300lbs and was quite large. I didn't worry too much about shipping I just used the standard which came perfectly fine and I absolutely love this unit.

Question 2

Do both cooling fans operate at the same time?  I don't think one of mine is working. Only right side one spinning.

Okay, I checked mine, the right side is always running but, there are 2 cooling fans and usually the 2nd fan will kick on when the first fan is unable to keep up with the cooling of the system down after awhile of constant and high use of power/High volume. Just like the 18 inch speakers that are made for the lows in your bass will not kicked on until you are at a volume of 18 or more depending on the song. believe it or not, this system reserves power until you decide to really crank it up because Sony design it with the expectancy of loudness. That is my take on it but if you really want to be sure, call Sony or email them, I got a feeling that they will either tell you the same thing or even worse, get a person that has no knowledge of this.

my sony shake 99 set keep skipping whenever I play a CD and the bazuca bass is on, however it plays perfect with a usb with the bazuca on

Assuming that your disc is readable and that you tried different disc. Base from the system vibrates the disc while the laser is trying to read it causing it to skip. Try to move your receiver off of the speakers to ware it is less impacted by the base, note; the skipping should not be taking place at a lower volume or less base. USB is a more of a smarter choice for playback with this system as it does not rely on a moving disc during base vibration. Remember that this is a 4800w system anything near it is acceptable to violent vibration.
