Trend Multi-Scribe Pro Scriber, Profile Matching Scribing Tool, MS/PRO

I researched several coping tools before setteling on this one. We were coming to the end of building a log home and I needed something that I could use by myself for detailed finish work, if needed, because my contractor was moving to another state. He is extremely anal about the tools he buys and uses and he absolutely fell in love with this tool. I was sad I couldn't aford to gift it to him before he left town but he likely got one for himself by now. We have other scribing/ coping tools but not like this one that allowed us to span a fllor to celing distance on a wall that butted up against a log wall with different sizes of custom logs in pur log home so that one long custom fit length of Oak coulld slide right in like a gigsaw puzzle piece against the adjacent log wall.

Most scribe tools are small and have a limited reach and are sometimes hard to keep horizontal ensuring an accurate line. This tool, not so. It does cost but it also puts out nicely. I was able to set external trim on a room addition that needed to be matched to an uneven adobe wall and the depth of the blade on the scribe made this a straightforward task. This tool feels solid in the hand and adjusts fully and locks up firmly. If you need a good sized scribe for more than just cabinet installations and furniture level projects this might just be it. I am very happy with the tool and would recommend it to others. Many tools just don't pay off in the long run but this one already has for me.

It is definitely a hefty tool (13.2 ounces) and will do what I need it to do which is scribing a floor to a rock wall. The only issue with the tool is the spirit level had no spirit. It was empty. I really did not intend to use that feature but for the price it should not come like that. I am sending this one back will get a replacement. For those interested, it has a pencil sharpener built in, can draw circles up to 6", the markings along the bars are 1/4" apart, the bar itself is 1/4" thick x 1 3/8" wide x 9 7/8" long, has 2 holes to put a pencil in (standard #2) and is a very tight fit which is great. The holes at each end of the bar are countersunk on one side. I gave it a 4 because I did not but it for the level function. Once I receive a replacement I will update the review.

I have used this daily since it arrived on the job. I have used other versions but none are as well built or as user friendly.
