SPECIAL FEATURES The Full Musical "Adam & Steve-Just the way God Made 'em!" Including Deleted Scenes Commentary with Directors Casper Andreas, Fred M. Caruso, star Daniel Robinson and editor Alex Hammer Trailers The Making of The Big Gay Musical Featurette Optional English and Spanish Subtitles SYNOPSIS Starring in the Off-Broadway musical comedy, Adam & Steve - Just the way God made'em, aspiring actors Paul and Eddie find their complicated lives mirroring their onstage characters. Though rousing musical numbers that feature scantily clad tap-dancing angels, a clever retelling of Genesis, creepy televangelists, and a camp that attempts tot turn gay kids straight, eveyone realizes that life gets better once they accept who they really are: Just the way God made'em! Review: Wonderfully entertaining. - The Big Gay Musical. The BFI Theatre on the South Bank in London was packed on the afternoon I went to see The Big Gay Musical. As with all movies associated with Casper Andreas I expected it to be entertaining, witty, comical with just a hint of sadness attached to it. I was not disappointed at all. He had co-directed this along with Fred M. Caruso. This joint venture proved they were a formidable duo. Casper had introduced the movie on other showings but had had to fly back to the US so Brian Robinson - the Press Officer at the BFI Theatre - stepped up on stage to do the honours. He told the packed house that The Big Gay Musical had been the favourite of the whole group of gay themed movies that had been shown at the festival over the past few days. The lights dimmed and the movie started. Black and white to start with which gave it a 1930s feel and I just knew it was going to be an enjoyable ride from start to finish when Casper playing a small but important part asks columnist Michael Musto as he dashes out from an extremely bad show if there is anything he would like. Screaming hysterically "I need a big gay musical" as he rushes on his way the screen bursts into colour and a most wonderful production number with handsome near naked men wearing angels' wings and boots tap dance across the screen . The theatre audience, clapped, laughed and cheered throughout the movie. Yes, it's campy, even a bit cheesy but its dramatic and it's filled to the brim with muscular bodies and show tunes that get your feet tapping along with them and then when a very limp wristed God appears played to the hilt by Steve Hayes and he creates Adam and Steve to live in the Garden of Eden after chasing Adam and Eve out well....... The plot has been described in many reviews so it is suffice to say that it is a movie that one must see too appreciate to the full. Words just do not do it justice. The talent is outstanding and all can dance, sing and act. A powerful combination. Many are from the Broadway stage and to name just a few - Daniel Robinson was in Hairspray, Joey Dudding did Gypsy, La Cage Aux Folles and Chorus Line and others appeared in Tricks, Wicked and even South Pacific. Sheer entertainment from start to finish. Review: Funny, touching, and uplifting - I watched this movie via Netflix streaming to see if I wanted to give it to my son and his husband for their birthdays. I loved the movie. It was bittersweet in many ways, with moments that made me laugh out loud. I really liked the fairytale ending. In real life things would probably have ended much worse, but that's something I already know, and I was delighted that the movie ended on an uplifting note. It is the happily ever after that I would wish for all my LGBT friends. I ended up buying the DVD for my son and his husband, and they love it!

adam and steve:hey mom and dad,i'm gay!
this is fantastic!!i bought this [shamed to say]for the cover..but inside is a world of every gay man's world:coming out;experimenting with multiple partners;finding your own place and most important, finding love, both from one's family and peers...and the finaly the reality of AIDS .BUT WAIT!this is also a "play within a play".while our main character steve is trying to come to terms with his new gay-awarness and helped by his buddy paul he must go through fire to get to the "other"side.all these themes are played out through steve's eyes and also through paul quesioning is own travel to find LOVE.while all of this is going on paul and steve are appearing in an off broadway play:"ADAM AND STEVE..JUST THE WAY GOD MADE THEM"which a history of god's love for the gay people he created because adam and eve failed him.thus the power of this "musical"is the homophopia that religion plays in it's condemnation of gay people.some of this is great fun and some is insightful, and at times tearful..as all good stories are.there is "R" sex but that should'nt put viewers off.AND AFTER ALL:GOD IS FUN!

Ok, Ok, I get the Message
I liked this movie. It moves quickly. It throws in political and sociological punches. But my only regret is watching this movie and rolling my eyes. I think the script-writer and director thought they were saying something new. Well, they weren't. We've heard it all before in other gay movies. But this time, it's set to music. What things? 1. Use condoms. 2. God loves us regardless if we are Gay. 3. It's difficult to tell your parents you're Gay. Etc. All been done before, peeps. Nothing new. Move on. But still, it's very enjoyable if you can get past being hammered on the head over and over again with "messages". Yeah, ok, we get it! This is why I left off a star for a rating. I don't like to be talked down to, and I felt this movie did just that. But still, I recommend the movie. It's fun for what it is, a Big Gay Musical.

Good looking guys, good humor, and good musical
I wasn't sure what to expect when I was in the process of renting this, but I was pleasantly surprised! I thought it had some good humor, and the guys were nice looking. For the most part, the songs in the musical were good, but there were a couple that weren't real great. I do have to be honest and say that many of the actors kind of looked alike. They were all athletic looking guys with the dark hair. And this made it hard for me to differentiate who was who in some portions of the shows. In fact, the one guy (I forget his name) who wanted a relationship and just wanted to cuddle with guys he met, had his hair styled one way when he went to the steam room. But on state, his hair was different. I actually liked his hairstyle when he was in the steam room better. Anyway, I think it would have been better if the actors didn't look so much alike.

Not too bad relative to the rest of the Gay canon
I am glad I bought this movie. It's actually funny, romantic, and campy at times (but mostly within the "Gay Musical" parts). The acting is actually not that bad and the quality of production is quite nice. I was actually surprised, because the cover jacket is kind of dumb. I was even glad that the actually tell the story of these two guys as they each go through their own issues with love and relationships and become good friends who don't fall for each other or are destined for each other. This one actually has a good ending where so many in the gay canon of movies, good or bad, do not and I am not the biggest fan of leaving a movie depressed for the wrong reasons.

The Big Gay Musical that keeps you focused and leaves you satisfied
Funny, well put together movie. Well written, and the actors are well equipped (in many ways.....) and quite talented. I have purchased another unknown gay play and it didn't hold a candle to this flick. Look forward to showing it at a dinner party and getting to view it a second time. That's a rarity for me! I think bravo is the best known descriptive word for a musical of this caliber!

What a wonderful Gay romp!
I wish I had watched the "Adam and Steve the Way God Made Em" musical included in the special features before watching the feature movie. The musical is a hoot all by itself and I just wish it had a chance of being seen by the bigoted holier than thou folks it's aimed at. The movie around the musical is well done and explores the issues faced by any homosexual trying to figure out his (or her) place in life and family and includes a a true life look at what the AIDS issue can mean to many of us.

Funny, cute, touching and sexy
'The Big Gay Musical' is a fun, romantic musical movie. It combines scenes from a musical called "Adam & Steve: the way God made 'em" and scenes from the actors' lives. The parallels run together between the musical and what the actors are going through in life. There's a great message of acceptance, respect, and love and it's a lot of fun. The actors are cute and talented, the music is good and the ending leaves you feeling uplifted!

Erfrischend anders.
I want to be a slut' singe.

Re-Creation Myth
If you are a devout Christian, homophobic or a bigot stay away from this. As the flyer on the case says, "Seldom has blasphemy been so entertaining." I haven't enjoyed a religious spoof this much since Dogma portrayed God using Alanis Morrisette with Alan Rickman as Metatron! Brilliant piece of work which has a real eye-opener of a message attached. Fun songs, poignant songs, great voices and choreography to beat the band! LOVED the tap-dancing angels ---- and especially the boys' guardian angel Dorothy. I would say that poking fun at the inherent bigotry of organised religion has never been more entertaining.
