I liked this product for the ease of installation. This dehumidifier worked immediately. You can tell whether or not a dehumidifier is working by the heat being emitted by the bar. It is not hot enough to burn you, but it is warm to the touch. If I needed another dehumidifier, I would purchase it from this company.

That's crazy...this thing works (so far anyway) but it is not a real "GoldenRod" even though it is advertised as such. The original is available from Amazon and costs twice as much...it is "golden" in color, though! I feel a bit deceived; the picture even depicts the real thing. Actually the one you receive will be black in color and yes, Made In China. Final note...this unit only consumes eight watts, thus puts out 27 BTU. the original Goldenrod in twelve inch model consumes 12 watts, thus puts out 41 watts. That may be a good thing, or bad, depending on what your needs are. EDITED REVIEW...AFTER A FEW WEEKS USE, I NOTE THE TEMPERATURE INSIDE THE SAFE HAS RISEN TWO AND ONE-HALF DEGREES. NOT SURE IF THAT IS A GOOD THING, OR NOT. AMBIENT WAS 59 DEGREES AND RECORDING THERMOMETER READ SIXTY-ONE AND ONE-HALF.

I purchased this to keep the humidity and temperature constant in my gun safe. It works perfectly, keeping humidity level between 32 and 35% and the temperature around 73 degrees. I have a large safe and it took a week or so for everything to stabilize, but after that period, it has remained constant. The unit is very warm to the touch, of course, but not burning hot. Highly recommended. I recommend a monitor to accompany this such as the Acurite 613A1 so you can keep track of the humidity and temperature inside the safe.

Like most people, I bought this in an effort to climate control my safe. Mainly I am worried about humility but would also like to keep the safe contents a bit warmer in the winter months. Because my safe is in the garage, it will regularly dip down into the 30s at night. Since I have installed this device, I have noticed the humility stays below 35% but it doesn't seem to do much for the temperature of the safe, which is surprising since it is essentially a small heater. However, that is not the devices intended purpose so it is hard to fault them for it. The reason I took off a star is because of its design. It is simply a bare metal rod that gets fairly hot. It does worry me a bit that if a piece of fabric or paper were to make contact with it for an extended period of time, it might catch fire. Having some kind of guard around it would make me feel better about the device though.

I purchased a gun safe foe my firearms. I cleaned and placed them in the new safe. Several days passed and I checked the safe and my guns were covered with surface rust and the leather and fabric holsters for the pistols were covered with milldew. I went online and found out that you should have dehumidifiers in your gun safe. These came highly recommendered.. I cleaned all the guns again and put them in the cabinet. I placed two of these in the bottom of the safe and left them for a couple weeks. The humidity was lowered to about 40%. I placed the guns back in the safe and they have been fine every since.

Super easy to install -- 18 inches long with a 110-120 volt AC plug, 6 foot cord and protects up to 200 cubic feet. Available in 12" & 18" models. Why buy a rechargeable one if you have a plug inside your safe or a wall plug hole to run the cord outside the safe and plug into the wall. This is the way to go all the way!!

I live in Florida so these things are an unfortunate necessity in my gun safes. Just beware that when this thing is plugged in it gets fairly warm. I wouldn't go in and grab this thing with my bare hand, that's for sure. In one of my safes it sits horizontally on the floor of the safe in the front and I do my best to keep the rifles away from touching it. Not that I think it would harm too much but I don't want to take the chance that it would put a burn spot in the wood or melt a synthetic stock over time. I use this in combination with drying pellets and I don't see rust or any corrosion on any of my firearms.

You will have to snap the plug onto the wire which is done so you can fit the wire through a hole in a safe for example. I bought this for my ammunition safes and the overall humidity did go down.

Works as advertised. Slightly warms inside of safe to move moist air out. I have this in my safe which I've moved to garage. I live in Canada where we get real winters and brutal humid summers. Ive got some toys that use the salty ammo and have had no issues what so ever. Easy on the hydro as well.

Easy to set up, including mounting legs and simple "slide in" connecting of power cord to wall plug, after threading the power cord througha hole in the safe wall or floor. Works great, getting warm to the touch, but never "hot", so pretty safe.

Very easy to install, it works. Temperature in my gun safe is slightly higher than the room its in, and relative humidity is just below 40%.

Great product, no need for a dehumidifier or the very risky moisture traps. It’ll keep your safe warm and dry eliminating any chance of rust as long as you practice proper maintenance and storage of your prized firearms. My safe came equipped with an electrical outlet but the plug end comes unattached so if you need to drill a hole for it you only need about 1/4” to run the wire through then attach the plug end, it’s a simple job.
