Yes they do, much better than the flat insoles that come in Nike Air Max shoes.

Can these be trimmed successfully?

I have trimmed these before. I simply take the insole that comes with shoes and use them as a pattern to cut these to fit the shoe.

Can I use this with any shoe or should I still look for arch support in the shoes that I purchase?

I would say: don't waste your time looking for arch support in the shoes that you purchase. You wouldn't find any. I have yet to come across shoes which come with built-in arch support. Most would come with insoles of some sort but these most of the time are simply cushions to make the shoes appealing to you. They are in most cases useless, if not grossly inadequate. If you do want arch support you would have to get your PREFERRED insoles. I tried quite a few brands after having learned the hard way and come to Spenco. It is good.

Help with the trimming process. Insole too wide or shoe too narrow? I bought these because it has positive reviews, but when I got them I see that they are huge, the problem is not the length, it's that they seem to be a little wide for my shoes, should I trim some of the arch support or get used to it? I've looked at…

I removed the original insoles from my shoes and used them as a pattern for trimming Spenco insoles. I trimmed the black part underneath but you can probably trim the yellow cushion also.
