Inquiry Mindset: Nurturing the Dreams, Wonders, and Curiosities of Our Youngest Learners [MacKenzie, Trevor, Bathurst-Hunt, Rebecca] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Inquiry Mindset: Nurturing the Dreams, Wonders, and Curiosities of Our Youngest Learners Review: Build an Inquiry Mindset in Your Students and YOU - “A common myth about inquiry is that student agency and empowerment is only for particular students.” I appreciate how Trevor gives real-classroom examples how inquiry works for all students! A delightful read with just a touch of whimsy to go along with best practices in the classroom. Inquiry Mindset will stir up your passion for the classroom and give you tangible next steps. Supporting docs on his website are top notch as well. Review: Excellent, Easy-to-Follow Guide to Boost Student Inquiry and Engagement - After reading and loving Trevor's first book, Dive Into Inquiry, I hoped for a follow-up book aimed at elementary teachers. This is it! Inquiry Mindset supports and guides elementary teachers through the nuts and bolts of inquiry-based teaching and learning. It's format is approachable with tips for teaching and reflecting that can be put into practice right away. The Inquiry in Action steps at the end of each chapter encourage the reader to try something new, then share about the experience, making this book is ideal for a staff book study. Trevor and Rebecca bring their own classroom experiences to the table. As current classroom teachers, their knowledge and enthusiasm are genuine and credible. Think of them as the mentor colleagues you need to support your inquiry mindset. I suggest buying both books!

So glad I purchased this book!!!
I purchased Inquiry Mindset and in four days I read the whole book. I was so excited to learn about all the different types of inquiry. I started reading the book and could not put it down. The book has amazing ideas for your classroom environment. It also gives you lots of ideas on how to set up different areas in your classroom so students can explore and discover answers to their essential questions. I have learned so many wonderful ways to promote inquiry in my classroom. I love the idea of the curiosity jar, the wonder window, the observation table, the cave and many more ideas. I took so many notes and I can't wait to use the ideas in my classroom. I enjoyed this book so much that I am ordering Dive into Inquiry. I highly recommend this book to all teachers who want to learn more about inquiry in the classroom.

Great teaching resource
If you are a teacher or you homeschool , this is a wonderful resource to have. It will require you to rethink how a a classroom functions and how to develop your lessons. If you are willing to slowly release your control of teaching “critical thinking “ skills with worksheets that have nothing to do with critical thinking, and help your students develop real-world critical thinking skills, then this book will be invaluable for your teaching. Inquiry Mindset is well written and very easy to understand and implement. It uses narrative anecdotes and step-by-step directions on how to begin using this method of learning. I can’t say enough good things about this book- it changed my students, and my, way of thinking.

First 3/4 are Great
I read this book for a gifted book study I'm doing with my school district. I liked the book and found some useful tips in the first 1/2-3/4 of the book... the last 1/4 seemed unnecessary and to just fill pages. I have read a lot of gifted books, so I see a lot of the same recommendations in them, but it's nice to see reinforcements and examples of how other schools and teachers are using inquiry-based learning across the world (the examples are from Canada).

Inquiry Mindset: Mind Blowing Information
If you are interested in creating an atmosphere of inquisitive learners than this is the book for you! Trevor MacKenzie and Rebecca Bathurst-Hunt have put together an all in one inquiry adventure to implement into any classroom. Included within the pages of this insightful book are the descriptions of the pillars of inquiry (the different stages in which inquiry can look like within a classroom. Starting off slow with more teacher-led activities and ending with a free inquiry where students are in control.), examples of the inquiry quests, and different ideas to get you started on your inquiry journey. I am really excited to implement many of the activities explained in this book into my classroom. I highly recommend this book to anyone willing to instill the inquiry mindset in their own students.

This book is great as a stand alone, or as a companion volume to Trevor's first book: Dive Into Inquiry. In this volume, Inquiry learning whys and hows are geared towards our youngest learners. He and Rebecca have included lots of primary examples that show the transformation Inquiry Learning can make to an Early Years setting. He encourages us to ask more questions and not give answers to our students, so that they build their own inquiry mindset and are prepared for the changing world they live in. We need to do less standardizing and more inquiring in our classrooms - this is the book that will help you start doing that.

A great addition to the field and an easy read. I was struck with the connections from chapter to chapter enhanced by the images, teacher stories, examples, and author interjections. Finally a book that focuses on the "how" in addition to the "why".
