An Elf's Story: DVD

My daughter loves this movie! It is nice and short. A little over 20 min. Also the songs they sing can be catchy and get stuck in your head for days!! HAha. The movie starts out with a family receiving their elf. They must name him. The elf tries to get the older boy to believe in Santa and the magic of Christmas. It shows the elf leaving from the home to the North Pole and back again. And also has a moment of suspense when the older boy touches the elf and then the elf loses his magic!! Poor elf! It is cute and perfect for little ones. And it shows them why they shouldn't touch and play with their elf. If you have a little one and have an elf, think about getting the movie. It all goes great together!

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is already doing the Elf on the Shelf Christmas tradition or who is thinking about it. My son (3 at the time) LOVES this movie. It's really cute and well-made and very watchable, even for adults. At the time, he couldn't sit through a whole show, until this one. We also have the Elf on the Shelf book. The book is great for explaining the "rules", but the movie really gives you the warm fuzzies toward your elf. The movie story line is about a family with two twin girl preschoolers and a tween big brother. The big brother doesn't believe in Christmas anymore and in trying to scare his sisters, he accidentally knocks the elf off his perch (touches him). And we see what happens to the elf (sad and cute) when you touch him. We get to see the elf and his friends return to the North Pole each night, have fun together, sing, talk to Santa, etc. We also get to see the elf move himself around the room each night in an effort to convince the boy that Christmas is real. And of course the story has a happy ending. 😋

Love this movie for many reasons. It's cute with a nice story line and good old life lessons, has music/singing (which my kiddos love), and is short (which I love). It's a fun movie that explains the story of Elf on the Shelf for those of us who don't want to read the book over and over. Or for kids whose attention spans are still too little for the book. My one and three year olds love it.

This is very cute. A great movie/story for kids.

This was a special on tv so its about as long as you would expect minus the commercials. Regardless of how much it is when you buy it you are only paying for one christmas special so keep that in mind when buying this product. This seems to help drive in the idea of the kids not touching the elf that comes with the book. One kid that doesn't believe in christmas anymore touches the elf and the elf disappears to the elf hospital. Its at that point the boy feels bad and also starts believing in Santa again. If your kids will not leave the elf alone have them watch this movie. That way you guarantee that elf will be exactly where you left him the night before and will not be lost by your kids. Maybe I am old school but the over all story line seems watered down. I wouldn't say the charlie brown special is packed with a deep story line but when compared to the past specials this had more of a commercial feel to it than a show. Which it was. This special help launch the elf on the shelf books in thousands of homes the day after it aired. So it doesn't seem to have as much heart as past specials. Luckily that doesn't matter to most little kids because we showed to a room few of kids last holiday during a hot chocolate party and it was a huge hit. If you own the book and elf this works perfectly to maintain that theme, but I wouldn't call it a must have.

We had recorded the Elf Story on our TV. Whenever our 1-1/2 and 2-1/2 year old great grandchildren would visit, they would ask to watch it--- 3 or 4 times. My husband erased it by accident and it was heartbreaking when the 1-1/2 year old kept saying "Elf" and we did not have it. With Christmas gone, the stores did not have it ----- but Amazon did --- at a very reasonable price --- and the best part is -- no more commercials to fast forward by. Ordering was a breeze and we got it very quickly. I ordered 2 - one for our house and one for the 1-1/2 year old's house. He visited the other day and watched it 4 times. Great DVD for family Christmas Tradition.

My kids love this movie! They especially love that no matter where we are for Christmas they can watch it.

The story was out of her depth but was still to young

If you have a Christmas elf, then this DVD is a must! My boys loved it (4&5) and wanted to watch it again and again

My son has played this movie on repeat every day for the last month. His elf on the shelf brought it on Christmas Eve with some new pajamas. Very catchy songs, and nice and short so it holds younger children’s attention. If you have an elf on the shelf I highly recommend getting the elf to bring this DVD!
