Quality camera at an affordable price
I spent the last few weeks looking around for 5mp ip cameras to add to my security system, and bought and tested 5 great quality, medium to high priced cameras. I needed a few more cameras so I was still looking around until I stumbled upon this Anpviz 5mp ip POE camera. This Anpviz 5mp camera is a high quality camera at a low price. The outer casing of the camera is high quality solid metal built, with an IP66 weather rating so it stands up to the extremes of weather conditions and the entire unit is well built and seem to be as well made as the medium to high priced cameras. Set-up was extremely easy, and did not require much effort. The picture quality is excellent and I am impressed with the clarity of both the day and night time picture that this camera produces (Crystal clear picture quality), great audio quality too. The camera also integrates well with my current NVR and functions seamlessly on the Danale app. Truth be told, this camera looks, feels and performs as well as any high priced camera that I have seen and easily rivals the high end cameras in its class, only at a lower price... I am so impressed with the built and performance of this camera that I have ordered the Anpviz 4K 8 Ch NVR system, that comes with 4 - 5mp cameras, and I now plan to change my current NVR security system to the Anpviz 4K 8Ch NVR, with a mixture of Anpviz 5mp and 4K cameras. This is the real deal camera.... high quality at a low price.. I strongly recommend this camera to add to any security system, or to use as stand alone ip camera on the Danale app. You will not regret it.....

Very Impressive Video!
After many days of finding the right location to mount the camera, installation of this camera was pretty straight forward. NOTE: Prior to connecting the CAT6 ethernet cable to the camera, I used a network cable tester and tested both ends of the CAT6 cable RJ45 connectors, and verified that all 8 wires were crimped and installed correctly on the RJ45 connectors. I highly advise that you perform this step prior to installing the camera. If the camera is installed 20+ feet high in the air, and if the wires are not test and failed to work...Trouble shooting would be a very very difficult task. App Installation: The supplied manual recommend to use Danale app, and this app is available for both Android and iOS. Since I own an iPhone, I downloaded and installed both apps. Before app registration, I had the camera connected to an NVR, which was connected to one of the switch ports on the Router Firewall. Once I verified connectivity with the switch I registered the app and the camera installation went pretty quick. Image quality: Once the video feed appears, I had to adjust the camera to the appropriate location by using the included Allen key to open the dome cover, and manually rotate and tilt the base and the camera’s lense to the desire location. No need to loosen up the two screws as instructed by the manual. Once a suitable location is adjusted for the initial video feed testing, to my surprise, the image quality is so clear and crisp! The quality of the sensor and lens on this camera is incredible...So nice and clear for a 5MP! The horizontal field of view is also very wide. I must say about 95+ degrees. Motion Detection and Recording: The camera is connected to a LaView NVR, and the NVR detected the camera within a few seconds and it was a breeze to setup. I configure the NVR to record when motion is detected and it works very well. However, I had to adjust the motion sensitivity and motion detection grids (the red squares) on certain areas to minimize the false positive push notifications (e.g movement of tree branches). Audio: The camera does have a built in Mic and I can hear the sounds quite clearly through both the app and the playback of recorded clips. It’s pretty amazingly clear! Summary: Overall, I'm really impress with this camera and the useful and functional features that packed into it. The image quality is amazing for a 5MP cam. This must be attributed to the quality of the sensor and lens. All I can say is I’m a happy camper! The motion and planned recording also works flawlessly. Aesthetically, IMHO, it looks pretty professionally good and pretty discrete once mounted outside under the soffit of my garage :) If you are in the market for a high quality security camera and not breaking the bank, this one is for you! I highly recommended!

Great Bank for The Buck
I initially bought one of these cameras to keep watch over the front of my house, and it served its purpose well. I was under the impression that I needed an NVR in order to use the camera, so I bought an Anpviz NVR (it's terrible, by the way, and not necessary). I then bought another one to keep watch over our aviary. My main network switch isn't Power over Ethernet, so I bought a 4-port PoE switch and plugged the camera into it. After a quick nmap scan to find the camera on the network, I logged into it with Firefox, gave it a static IP on my main network, and then was able to view the camera video through the browser interface on any computer on my network. We frequently have at least three computers monitoring the camera at the same time, at it was (just barely) acceptable. The browser video, though, was very slow and choppy, and had no sound, so I thought the camera was pretty awful. But then I tried to view the camera video through VLC's rtsp:// protocol support, and the video was silky smooth, and had sound. Even with multiple computers monitoring at the same time, the experience has been nearly flawless. There is only a slight moment when first connecting when there is a minor stutter, but it passes quickly. Using rtsp means that a browser plugin is not required, and the camera will work with ANY operating system that has a program that speaks rtsp. My house runs on Linux, and I have no problems at all. The video quality is outstanding, the night vision is awesome, and the sound is surprisingly good. I want to test the camera's NFS support, but that will have to wait. Once I know (either way), I'll report back here. In any event, though, that doesn't detract from the camera. I will be surprised if the NFS doesn't work, since the camera itself runs on Linux. UPDATE: I have successfully configured the camera to write to my Debian NFS server, so I can confirm that the camera's NFS support works. I'm giving it a 5-star rating based on the features I was expecting when I bought it. It does not have Pan/Tilt/Zoom, but I knew that when I bought it. As such, I'm not dinging it any stars. So far it delivers on all the promises I've tested. It's a great value camera for what it provides. You can see them in action on youtube @ 'for the love of birds sanctuary and rescue services' under 'live' tab.

One of the best IP cameras on the market
Ordered this camera not knowing what to aspect but man I am blown away with the quality and super clear picture this camera produce. I have over 20 different IP cameras and two wired NVR’S and one wireless NVR so I know a thing or two about security systems. I have from 2mp to 8mp cameras setup inside and outside one 4mp zoom camera. I ordered this camera because of the price, it says plug and play plus 5mp and Hikvision compatibility’s. How can you get a camera at this price point with those features and it work like the cameras I have that cost 100’s of bucks I bought here on amazon, eBay etc. So I get it and it’s well packaged just like my other ones I open it up check the contents (see my photos) and let’s get to it and install this baby. I pull down my 300 buck 5mp dome camera I bought 4 years ago and it had a great picture and night vision so this camera had to live up to that one. I plug it in mount it at the front door and pull out my iPad to see if it’s really plug and play very few cameras work right out the box without setting it up and activating it. This baby came right up see it on my iPad along with my other cameras connected to my NVR. Great picture and night vision I can’t believe how much better this camera is over my other 5mp I replaced it with. I setup motion detection and it worked perfect and sent emails I have setup on the NVR this is a GREAT camera at a price I don’t believe so get this baby before they are gone or the price increase even then it’s a great IP camera. Check out the picture’s and you will order this one. Also the seller answered every question I had before I went with this one. Happy camper. Next I will try Anpviz PTZ they sell been wanting a PTZ but the price always gave me pause but Anpviz has one at a great price. Look like I will be replacing about 12 IP cameras if they work like this one. I have two of their cameras with two way audio and built in mic. I just put them up and will be doing a review on those once I test them out.

Some good, mostly bad
The price is right. And it fit the mounting-hole pattern of the Hikvision DS-2CD2142FWD-I camera I replaced. But there are sooooo many things wrong: 1. No special characters allowed in passwords for the web interface. A security camera with low-security passwords? Great idea! 2. The flimsy wires to the microphone broke in seconds. (It was a windy day and the dome blew around forcefully as I mounted the camera.) This problem would vanish if the mic wires were just a little longer - the dome's anchor cable would then be able to keep the mic wires from breaking. 3. Unbelievably, you can't turn off the IR lights in the web interface. Every other security camera I've ever used (and that's lots of 'em) lets you do that. It's important for me, since I live in central Texas, where the bugs really are "as big as your head." I typically turn off camera IR lights and use separate IR fill lights on the ground to avoid hours of pointless flying-bug videos. I emailed tech support, and they showed me which wires to disconnect to permanently disable the IR lights. (I've posted their photo here.) I disconnected the lights - but I should not have had to. 4. Maybe because I disconnected the IR lights, maybe not, I cannot get the camera to display daytime color and nighttime black and white. It's one or the other, 24-7. The settings are stupid and confusing and lack any coherent explanation. (Hello, firmware writers: How about context-sensitive help? You know, where you hover over a setting and you get a paragraph explaining what it does, and guidance on why you should or shouldn't use it? It's only been a standard for, like, 30 years.) It sure would be nice if I could get it to work like every other security camera on the planet, but at least for now, I'm black and white all day, every day, and I hate it. 5. The firmware is just generally buggy. Hit refresh and sometimes nothing happens. Try to adjust bitrate - you can't! And images in this camera lag behind images in other cameras positioned nearby - in other words, a passing car in another camera doesn't show up on this camera for several seconds, when it should be almost instantaneous. I suspect slow processing and lazy coding, but the problem certainly is not my network or monitoring software (iSpy). Simply put, if there was an all-American camera option similar to this, that did everything right but cost twice as much, I WOULD STILL BUY IT. In an era when American consumers are fed up with crummy Chinese junk with questionable security, the time is right for a homegrown solution!

Great IP Camera! I Keep Buying More…
If you’re looking for ONVIF or Hik compatible IP camera, for my money Anpviz cameras are the BEST I’ve come across. Just as good as my HIK cameras without paying double! I have several NVRs running at different sites that were Hikvision and I like how easy it is to work with Hikvision cameras and NVRs. When I wanted to add more cameras, I noticed a wide variety of Hikvision, Hik compatible and ONVIF IP cameras with much better pricing than buying Hik branded IP cameras. I ordered a couple of IP cameras from several different brands that were said to be compatible with Hik NVRs or at least ONVIF compatible. Here’s why I will be ordering from Anpviz vs the others: Software interface/Default programming: With Anpviz, I could easily find the camera on my network. It’s defaulted to DHCP. My NVR software also recognizes the camera in the Device Management section which makes it easy to add individually on my computer or to do the same via the NVR. Some of the other brands didn’t even come with documentation and were not DHCP defaulted. Very frustrating and time consuming. Anpviz cameras were super easy to find, setup and adjust. As close to plug n play as anything out there and worked seamlessly with my HIK NVRs. Picture: I have to admit, when testing out the different cameras, I ordered 3 MP, 4 MP and 5 MP to compare. All of the cameras on my existing system were 4 MP and the quality was great. Going from 4 MP to 5 MP took a little getting used to. It feels more squared than widescreen. Worry not. It’s wider than a 4 MP and taller as well. 5 MP gives you more real estate. I’ve used these cameras indoors and the picture quality is excellent both day and night mode. Actually impressed with how good it looks in night mode. Some of the others I bought (and used) provided comparable picture quality, but were not very compatible with my HIK NVRs. I’ve had to make SOOO many adjustments to image and video settings just to get them to work and even then were glitchy- frozen livestreams, connection lost, etc. I am replacing them with Anpviz cameras. Not worth the frustration. Body/Size: Everything on this camera is solid. Metal casing feels solid. When you pop off the dome, adjusting the cameral angle is easy. I tend to be careful as to not break anything when adjusting as it feels a little fragile, but all in all never had an issue and adjustments are smooth. Lastly, the size. For both indoor and outdoor, the size of this camera is very good. Anpiz makes a smaller model than this one, but I think you lose a bit on the night vision quality. Any bigger than this size and I would say for outdoor use only. This particular model works very well for both. I’ve had Anpviz cameras for close to a year now without any issues. Can’t say the same for the others. Anpviz makes a solid IP camera and I haven’t come across anything yet that compares the value you get without sacrificing quality.

Word of caution, these are not for use inside your home... Read more
Would not recommend this for use inside your home unless you want to take the risk of someone watching you in your undies. The rtsp feed is not password protected. anybody you've shared your wifi pass with can sit outside your home and pull the stream for this camera. same goes for a "hacker" that has compromised your network or anyone who wants to unmount another poe ip cam from outside your home an plug the network cable into thier laptop can access this cameras stream. On that note, I have 3 of these cameras mounted outside under the eave of my home. They do have a good picture, I have other supposed 5mp cams from other manufacturers and the picture quality on these are the best by far. If a hacker happens to compromise my network he can look all he wants at what's going on OUTSIDE my home, pretty boring stuff.. In the first pic with multiple cams the "backdoor" and "backyard" cams are this models "substream" which is a lower quality stream but which is still pretty good compared to the "patio" cam which is a JIDETECH 5mp ptz cam. second pic of "backyard" is the full 5mp quality. The "back 180" is the anvpiz 180 6mp dome model also have the anvpiz 4k 180 dome model which is pretty amazing especially with the new "starlight" technology. This model I'm reviewing doesn't have it that tech tho.
