MUT EOD Multi-Tool with Molle Sheath Sheath Color: Black

This multi-tool has everything in it that I was looking for. For starters there are three easy ways to carry it: it comes in a heavy duty pouch for easy attach to a belt or jacket, it has a pocket clip and a carabiner. Though the tool is slightly on the heavy side, I have never had a problem carrying it clipped to the inside of my pocket. As for the tools, it comes with three screw bits that are all securely held in place, but quite easy to remove. (if you use drivers a lot, I highly recommend the Leatherman bit kit as it comes with 22 more driver bits) I wasn't expecting much from the blade as I was buying a multi-tool and not a knife, but am quite impressed with the quality and sharpness of the blade. The C4 punch and carbon scraper are going to be essential for some people, and not needed for others; both are high quality and easy to use one handed. There are numerous safety features built into the tool, besides the traditional lock on the saw and blade, there is clip to hold the multi-tool shut so it won't open in our pocket or where ever, and when closed when a small driver bit is installed, the paracord/seatbelt cutter is covered to prevent accidental cutting. Moving on to the pliers, the needle nose tip isn't as pointing as it could be, but it's pointy enough and I haven't had to worry about damaging them for being too thin. There are two wirecutters (one with replaceable blades) and two crimps (one for blasting caps and one for wires). These all work great and are easy to use with only one hand. All in all it is a great tool, the only thing I can see people possibly not liking is the weight; however, being that the tool can be used as a hammer - having some weight behind it can be advantageous. It is very compact, high quality and most parts are replaceable if damaged. This tool is definitely going to be at my side for years and years to come.

Pros: - well made - some parts are replaceable - wire cutters are extremely clean, best I've had for a multitool. - cord and belt cutter can be accessed without opening the tool. - tool locks shut to prevent accidental openings - Molle sheath included. Cons: - the knife and saw blade are not among the replaceable components. The knife can be sharpened, but dealing with a saw that gets dull is harder. - the wire strippers and electrical crimper are just OK, they work but take some getting used to. Wire strippers and crimpers are good for smaller sizes, but not larger gauges. This IS the EOD version of the tool, which is meant for fuse wires etc. For those they work fantastically. - storage for driver bits is a little hard to get in and out of. Especially if you are weaking gloves or do not have another tool to poke them out with. I work with Pyrotechnicians and I use this tool when wiring electrical systems, as well as a general tool. The knife is good one hand locking and folding, and the plier tips are in very tight tolerance to each other. The Cap crimper isn't as useful for me since I don't work with HE, so I can't comment on that. Please Note: The fuse wire cutters are meant for ELECTRICAL WIRES! I have encountered people who think they are meant for cutting fuses such as those on fireworks and other explosives. They are not, at least not in any non-sparking certifications I can find. Any time you have metal-on-metal rubbing with rare exception you risk a spark and therefor ignition

The best on the market

Comes with black sheath and wrench. The design cuts as much weight as they could im assuming. The blade and saw are thinner than im used to seeing on my leatherman surge. Tip: the bit release holding the actively used bit to block the cutter was out of place. Two small tabs push the lock tab to free the bit. It was above where it was supposed to be and needed to be pushed down. solid and built to last.

This product is for if you are an AR-15 enthusiast. Not a bad pocket knife but for this price it would be good to know that this is a specialty leatherman

I purchased the tool as an field accessory for my AR-15 type rifles. The carbon scraper and punch tools are easily accessible but I had some difficulty removing the flat screwdriver Phillips screwdriver combo from its slide-in slot. It wasn't stuck but it still must be slid out from its storage slot and there is no textured area or notch on the side to do so. I like the overall design, simplicity and the fact its got a clamp for belt carry as well as a carry pouch. The fact that its made in Oregon is a plus also. The tool is fairly heavy for a belt carry tool and I am wondering if using lighter weight alloy metals could reduce the weight. However, to do so would also probably result in a higher price and its a fairly expensive ($150 range) as it is. Overall if you are a AR platform rifle shooter I would recommend the Leatherman MUT EOD tool system as a handy field accessory.

Expensive but worth it, you can feel its quality when you open and operate the different tools, of which it has many. This is the kind of piece that not only lasts a life time but might safe your life sometime.

Excellent. Wish I would have had this back in my active duty Sapper Days. Highly recommend it. Note that this is a bit of a custom job for EOD and COmabt Engineer so if you are a straight grunt or AR guy/gal then get the one designed for M4/M-16 use.
