Perfect in Every Way
Iโve had this Epson LW-300 Label Maker for nearly a month and am still very pleased with it. It has 14 fonts and within each one it has options like bold, italics, shadow, etc. It also has punctuation options, symbols and 2-line printing and the font size has 4 options. I chose a โlike newโ option from this dealer because the โnewโ one was nearly 2 ยฝ times the price. I had several inquiries about it, and they answered in a very timely manner, usually within hours and shipping was on time too. They said the unit might have some scratches, but it arrived in perfect condition. It did not come with a user manual, but I was easily able to go to Epson.com and find it and print it. Also, at Epson.com you can find FAQs about it on the same page which I found very helpful. I ordered several Epson cartridges from this dealer and am very pleased with them. There are a lot of options available when you purchase the cartridges: clear, white, iron-on, etc. The blue-looking labels in the photo are a actually a clear label when you peel off the blue backing. I hope this label maker never wears out or quits working!

Great Labeler
Let me start this review by saying that I have always wanted a labeler. I am a very organized person, and the I thought that this would help a lot with keeping even more organized. After I decided that I was going to purchase one of them, I set out on the quest of finding the best one for the price. I mainly looked at the Brother P-Touch models versus the Epson LabelWorks models. After reading several reviews and product videos, I came to the conclusion that this would be the best one because the Brother models seem to waste a lot of paper before and after the text that you want printed. With the labeler, came a roll of tape, an instruction manual, and a quick reference guide which is turning out to be quite helpful. I suggest that you buy extra tape because what it comes with is only a sample, not the usual nine meter roll. Anyway, onto the review of this fine label maker. First, let me say that I have only been using this product for about one week and it has not been under heavy use. I am primarily using it for household items, my files, etc. I use it maybe twice a day to make a simple label, nothing fancy with the frames or fonts or borders. That is why I opted for this model and not the Epson LabelWorks LW-400 Label Maker (C51CB70010) . I am more than happy with this labeler. It is quick, intuitive, and even fun to use. Also, unlike the P-Touch series, it hardly wastes any tape before and after the text. One of my favorite features about it is that I can save up to 50 (I think) different frequently used labels. This is helpful because I often need to print my name on things and it can be tedious to type it in every time that I need it. Another great feature about this labeler is the versatility. Although I have only started to touch on some of the fancier frames and fonts, I can see it being very cool for scrapbooking and other crafts projects. There are probably hundreds of different uses for this besides simply labeling and organizing. Overall, I am very pleased with this product. The only thing that I can think of that I don't like is that the price of tape is a bit more expensive than the competitors. I highly recommend this labeler. If you have any questions, just comment and I will write back!

Great product but think of a Gillette razor
This is a really inexpensive but very good product. However, the labels cost a lot. My labels average between 3" and 4" so you get between 50 and 80 labels per 17' label cartridge (if I've done the math right). Old man Gillette almost gave away razors in order to sell razor blades for good profits. Unfortunately, I can't shave with this Epson. I had an application in mind when I bought my LW-300: I wanted to label the spines of some 13" x 19" folios and I wanted the letters upright on the tape as it ran down the spin. None of the label maker's descriptions I read on Amazon (for models under $100) mentioned that capability. I ran into a photo attached to this product showing the directional printing I wanted. When the LW-300 arrived I was rather amazed at how sturdy it felt and the amount of font, size, face, spacing, etc. options it provides. I don't need all of those capabilities but I tried them and everything works as advertised. It's a rather amazing little machine. In case it's not clear from the description, batteries (6 AAA's) are not included; neither is the wall plug power supply that can be ordered separately. I think it's still a bargain at this price. The tape cutter is a large button on the side of the machine. Given that it takes 7-15 seconds to print a 3" to 4" label, the extra time to hand cut, maybe a second, isn't significant. You can store a few dozen of your favorite labels in its memory but I don't think that is important to most folks. What is important to me is that the last label you printed (or text you edited) is sitting right there when you power on again. So if consecutive labels look a lot alike, editing rather than retyping is what you do to specify the next one. I have no idea, since this is my first label printer, whether the LW-300 is fast enough for high production uses. Probably not. But it is just fine for around the house or small volume business needs. Epson offers many different label colorings, e.g., black on white and gold on clear. If these are hard to find go to the Epson web site where you can buy direct. For me the shipping was free, there was no tax added, and the prices were competitive. Further, they offer many color combinations that were available no where else.

Good label maker at a reasonable price
I decided to start organizing all the screws, nuts and bolts in my garage. I had several drawers full of screws in their original packaging which can be bulky and space consuming. I picked up a couple of great organizing containers for these parts, but wanted to make sure I could identify the sizes since I was throwing away the original packaging. A label maker was the perfect solution. I browsed the many many label makers available on Amazon.com (boy there are a lot). It really just came down to reading some positive reviews and looking for a good price. I decided to settle on this model as it had both. I'm quite happy with it. As some people said, the text isn't super sharp, but I find it to be just fine, even at the smallest font size it's perfectly legible. Within 5 minutes of reading the instructions, and a few labels of trial and error, I was up and running and printing perfect labels. I'm not sure how the batteries will last, but I printed about 40" of label and still have full battery power. Pros: Easy to use Can print up to 2 rows on each label (saves ribbon) 4 text sizes Labels are easy to read Lots of symbols to chose from LCD screen is easy to read and has useful information Labels are sticky and strong Cons: About 1/2" of blank space on each side of text, wish that could be reduced to 1/4" or 1/8" to save wasted blank space

A couple quirks, but I love it so much I don't notice
I love this thing, but there are a couple of quirks I should note. I like it enough to ignore them, but it might be a deal breaker for others. 1. It's rather large, I think. It's not comfy to hold in one hand as I did with my previous label maker. 2. The buttons need a bit of heavy handedness. You have to give them a good solid press, or it'll easily skip. 3. The cut button is needlessly huge. The listing has a good pic of the front, but I've made a couple of pix of the back of it. In one pic you can see the view window for the label cartridge. Very handy, that, plus it's indented enough that it's what I use to brace a finger to allow me to hold it with 1 hand. It works for either hand, despite the honkin big cut button. You can also see where it's molded into the case the size of the label spools needed, which I appreciate VERY much. And that useful little 'quick tips' bit was all I needed to get me started. Other pic you can see all the innards. This is part of what allows me to overlook its overall large size - plenty of room to get hold of the cartridge and/or batteries. Having had a much smaller one, I well remember struggling to change the cartridge. You'll need to fiddle around with buttons to find the various special effects menus and how they work, but it really does have what I consider to be some serious extras there. Frames, fonts, sizes, multiple lines, etc. Extremely useful. They have plenty of different label types, like iron-ons, etc. Lots of different colors. And of course, as others have noted, this one wastes a lot less tape on beginning and end blank space. Definite home run for me.

Easy to Use and Versatile Label Maker
The Epson LW-300 is a fantastic tool for organizing everything from files and storage bins to cables and kitchen containers. Itโs lightweight, compact, and very user-friendlyโthe keyboard layout makes typing easy, and the screen clearly shows your label before printing. I love the wide variety of fonts, symbols, and framing options, which add a nice personal touch. The labels themselves are crisp, durable, and easy to read. The machine runs quietly and doesnโt waste as much tape as some other label makers, which saves money in the long run. Perfect for home, office, or even crafting projects. ๐ Helpful for anyone who values organization and wants a reliable, customizable label maker.

Powerful, Flexible, Easy to Use, Lots of Fonts and Characters
I'm at that stage of life where I am suffering from the George Carlin problem: "Too much stuff." Most of the stuff I buy nowadays is stuff to help me organize and keep track of the stuff I already own. That's why I need a really good label maker. And this product is a really good label maker. I like the two-hand operation, and the flexibility of font sizes and styles. Smaller fonts and double-row printing are very useful for labels that need to go into small spaces. Numbers and special characters are easy. (Previously I was using a Dymo 130, which is a decent product but special characters, even dashes and slashes, were very cumbersome to produce; that was the deal-breaker for me.) Memory stores up to 30 files - that's a big plus if you are a heavy user as I am. This is a great product at an excellent price, and I strongly recommend it if you plan to be making a lot of labels.

It's Junk and Epson Practically Admits It
Junk. I bought this for my husband who occasionally labels the drawers in his shop/on his toolboxes. It worked fine for about a year, then stopped. It would only flash an error message and shut itself off. We emailed Epson customer support and they told us to try turning it off and back on again. Gee, thanks for the super-tech advice...I would never have thought to do that {{eye roll}}. Their only answer after that was that the machine was probably unable to be repaired and that our problem was common. We could send it to them (at our cost) and they would trouble-shoot then repair it (at our cost) if it was possible to fix it. Based on the conversation it was obvious that all we'd be doing is losing money on the shipping! It's cheap to buy a new one...but I would never buy another Epson. I think products should last more than a year...and I think the manufacturer should be at least slightly embarrassed when they don't, not just tell me the problem is common! You might as well say to me "Oh yeah, our products are junk. Just toss it and buy a better brand." I have an old Brother machine in my office that I'm going to let him have for his shop. It's almost 10 years old. It's not as fancy and it makes a buzzing noise the whole time it's on, but it works just fine!! If we do need to buy a second one, so we can have one at the office and one at the shop, I'll buy another Brother.

Print quality could be better. Tape cost is rather high
Print quality could be better. Tape cost is rather high, but as with printers, consumables are where profits are made. Compact size, well designed, easy to learn.
