All Aboard for the Bobo Road Review: Beautiful! - Fatima and Galo help their father load his minibus in preparation for traveling the Bobo Road. The children continue to load the bus as they continue down the road and things get more crowded. Each stop on the road (Lake Tengrela, Karfiguela Falls, Domes of Fabedougou) provides a glimpse into the wildness and beauty of this road through Burkina Faso in Western Africa. The gorgeous illustrations provide a beautiful complement to the text. With the need for more diverse books in children's literature, I was delighted to come across this one. The book provides a glimpse into a way of life and geography very different than the one most children in the United States are familiar with. Books like this one fill an important niche in children's literature, one that I love to explore. Review: Don't wait or hesitate, get it now! - I loved reading this book myself and loved sharing it with my students. It is very colourful and my students thoroughly enjoyed engaging in picture reading using the beautifully detailed illustrations. If you are looking for something that helps students in a bit of counting without being repetitive this is a great option. If you are looking to sensitive your students to the fact that Africa extends beyond the typical countries they hear about, then this is a great option. If you are looking for just a plain old great children's book, then you have the right book!!!

Beautiful book
Gave this as a gift to a family who sponsors a child in Burkina Faso. Beautifully illustrated, this is a great way to introduce kids to a world that very different than what they're used to.

We love this book
We love this book! The illustrations are colorful and the whole thing is just a delight to read. And they're all real places and there is a YouTube video documenting the drip from Banfora to Bobo- so your child can actually see it!

A counting book road trip through Burkina Faso
Fatima and Galo join their father on his bus route taking the Bobo Road. They help load the luggage at each stop and see amazing sights. For those who don't know (because the book does not say) the Bobo Road is in the African country of Burkina Faso. Through the travels of the bus, the book gives a tour of some of the famous sights of that country, from hippo watering holes to desert scenes to famous cities. This will definitely be an eye-opener for kids who are not used to this kind of bus transportation. Fatima and Galo get to ride on top of the bus, and the amount and type of luggage that gets added at each stop will raise some eyebrows. There's repeated phrases that will help little ones be able to "read" with someone else. And each stop provides an opportunity to practice counting the things to be loaded on the bus. It's a bright and colorful tour of Burkina Faso readers can take from the comfort of their favorite reading spot.

Exciting
I wanted some Africa-focused books for Kindergarten. This fit the bill perfectly. Though it reviews counting from 1-10, it is not the main focus of the book and there was enough text that it was clearly not for preschool. The images were detailed and interesting. The places they visited made you want to learn more about the area and Africa in general. I even went online and looked up where the city of Bobo is located and its in the country of Burkina Faso and the city's full name is actually Bobo-Dioulasso. However, though I liked the artwork for the most part, I did not like how the noses were painted pink when facing forward but then were normal colored if viewed on the side. They just should have done a white outline of the nose when facing forward.

We have over 70 books for him in our household and this is by far his favorite. I think he loves all the beautiful colors ...
My son LOVES this book. We have over 70 books for him in our household and this is by far his favorite. I think he loves all the beautiful colors and the magical places with their cool names which he loves to read out himself. I chose this book because i feel it's so very important to expose our children to as many different cultures and types of people and sadly books like this one are not as common as they should be. The story is great and it still surprises me that after reading it almost every night for over 6 months he still always chooses this one book. It really is a great book and i think it deserves a place on every child's bookshelf.

When I heard Stephen Davies and Christopher Corr had a 3rd book out I ordered it straight away - even with the cost of postage to Australia! Like the two earlier it was a big hit with my now 10 and 5 year old nephew and niece. The younger one especially loved counting along, and the older the colourful illustrations. Problem is, now I have to order another one, since they insist on having their own copy rather than letting me keep it!
