Behind your familiar astrological chart lies another chart entirely, one whose existence you may never have suspected. It carries your treasures and your wounds. Where the astrologer’s predictions and the realities of your life might not in all honesty have lined up, this chart-behind-the-chart will help you see why. This second, hidden chart tells the tale of who you were in a prior lifetime. It speaks of what wounded you then and what work you left undone. It reveals the old ghosts that still haunt you today and it describes what happens when you let them grab the steering wheel of your life. This chart explains the reasons you have the chart you have today and it clarifies how you can get on with your evolutionary journey. In Yesterday’s Sky , Steven Forrest completes the picture he began painting in his best seller, The Inner Sky , over twenty-five years ago. Review: Great Book - Currently, I am about halfway through this book and I am loving it. I have read Inner Sky and Changing Sky from the same author, which are both great books in astrology. I ordered Yesterday’s Sky while I was still reading Changing Sky. This author does a great job with explanations and providing examples on how to apply the concepts in the books. I plan on reading most of his other books. I have the book of Pluto and the book of Neptune on my shelf to read after I finish Yesterday’s Sky. As with Inner Sky and Changing Sky, I will be using Yesterday’s Sky as a reference in the future! I highly recommend this author and his books on astrology. Review: Excellent exploration of Nodes and Reincarnation theory - Forrest is probably the best writer on contemporary astrological thinking. His writing style is highly readable, and his theories are always thought provoking. This particular book explores the north and south nodes of the moon as they pertain to reincarnation, a person's soul journey. The south node shows what knowledge and burdens one has brought with them into this life, the north node where the soul must "go" in this life to overcome the karmic burdens. He also shares his own journey to illustrate how he feels his own nodes work in this life and what things from his past reincarnations he must overcome and for which he must make amends. I found reading this work by Steven Forrest quite a profound experience. Astrology remains a controversial subject for all sorts of reasons, most of which seem to have more to do with ego or fear than anything else, but if you are interested in exploring the subject, If you find yourself drawn to researching on a deep level the intersection of metaphysics and astrology, you probably can't find a better writer than Forrest to take you there. This is not for beginners; this is for readers who are serious about exploring astrological symbols, their meanings, and how to integrate them into consciousness.

Extra-ordinary Book
Another triumph from Steven's canon. Within inner sky and changing sky this book completes an 'all you need to know' about astrology to get you started. Of course this book is for those open to the idea of evolutionary astrology, that somehow the chart is the perfect prescription for the Soul's evolution. That with the chart there are clues as to why the soul is choosing this particular incarnation. So it provides a context for the natal chart, it gives the chart a mythology for the native to follow. Stories engage the heart and mind, and help us to absorb most of the chart, and present this life as a moment in a continuum moving forward. Steven does give some canned interpretations for Nodes in signs and houses, to get you started, he also clearly delineates the significance of planets aspecting the nodes as well as the node rulers and aspect to those. He then demonstrates the method, having clearly presented a strategy for tacking a chart, for several well known people from the past to whet your appetite. I know Jeff Green has also featured prominently in this area, but I don't think there is a better teacher of astrology than Steven.

Essential reading for Inner work
A beautufully written book. Truly engaging. These are some of the most important and profound teachings on my journey of learning astrology. I am so grateful to Steven Forrest for sharing his wisdom and that of so many others so that we as students can develop a deep and rich understanding of these concepts.

Great reference book
First book I've read by this author though many astrologers swear by him. This book is concise, very helpful if you are just getting into using your birth chart for past life context clues. I like that even though he gives "cookbook" definitions for different placements and aspects, he is very careful to emphasize the importance of flexibility in your interpretations and keeps his definitions broad, giving examples of how the same aspect or placement can have multiple meanings. He does some sample charts at the end which are also helpful.

Well, I finally got around to buying and reading this book. First of all, I'm pretty sure that Steven Forrest can be credited with developing this process of following the karmic trail in the chart which can lead us to the story of past life problems or blunders that a person is working through in this life. Yes, Forrest is starting with the ideas of Jeff Green and his Pluto books, and gives full credit to Jeffry Wolfe G., but really, Steven took a germinal idea and ran with it, and made it viable by using a trusted method like disposition-ship and house rulership. I have found the process to make deep sense to people, even though I am not myself an "evolutionary astrologer". Frankly, I am surprised that there are not more book reviews here on amazon, since I myself know many evolutionary astrologers who swear by Forrest's work and tout his prowess all the time, and these are just the astrologers who live in my area. So where are their reviews? Anyway, I did have my criticisms of Forrest work, but they are minor I suppose. I personally wished that he had included the North Node early on in the book, but I can appreciate that he wanted to emphasize that the South Node is negative and the North Node is positive. I sort of liked that he called the North Node nothing more than "a good idea", something to be written by us during our lifetime. I thought there was a lot of repetition in the book, when he could have just said "apply what I wrote before". The book was overly long and could have instead presented more examples and stories of real life cases. Also, I thought it was a cheap shot to say that astrology without the whole karmic picture would miss all the big drama and negativity in the picture, which is so not true at all. If you read the book you will see the chart he chose for that demonstration. He didn't need to say that, and it isn't true. He must have been taking about beginning students who only look at signs and not aspects. It was gimmicky and too "salesman" slick to say that. Oh, well. Maybe when he wrote it he was not sure that readers would go for his ideas. And look how it turned out. He is a very famous astrologer and well liked.

Good Work Steven
In his usual fashion, Steven Forrest has added clarity and an entrepreneur's contribution to the field of astrology. In reading about the north and south nodes, I experienced a great joy. Finally, a seasoned astrologer who has not only made sense and elaborated on the energies at work in the placement, signs, houses and aspects of the moon's north and south nodes, but has enlightened me to the importance of understanding these symbols and how to work with them. While others before him have built a foundation of understanding for working with the nodes, Steven has framed this understanding by informing us with history of reincarnation and, in practical terms, how karma is at work and how to identify the symbolism in the charts. While the analyses of the natal chart and the planetary energies that point toward past lives lived is a complex "story", in this book Steven has given the reader a practical system to gradually develop the storyline. Bravo to one of the best professional astrologers working today!

I can only recommend this text even if one does not subscribe to reincarnation. As Stephen mentions in his book there are other possible explanations or frameworks in which to understand the nodes of the moon . I quite agree. I enjoy Stephens ability to be open minded on such things even though he has settled in his own mind the position he wishes to colonise. Saying all this I found this text incredibly insightful and helpful. Stephen is truly committed to the evolution of ones soul. Again he is a thorough teacher of his art which I deeply appreciate. I have learnt much from the inner wisdom he imbibes. In response to one critique re cookery book descriptions Stephen does point this out as one of his intentions though he is the first to caution one in the use of such descriptions . He often points out how important it is that such descriptions take into account the message of the whole chart. Context, context, context is the Post Modern motto . I quite agree. When one attempts any analysis of a birth chart cook book descriptions are helpful . To use an analogy one is looking at the letters of the alphabet with such descriptions . Only when the letters are combined together to make words, sentences and paragraphs does the bigger picture arise which makes sense of the particulars or individual words etc. I always feel in reading Stephens books he is deeply aware of the above hence the tremendous wisdom of his words.

Amazing !
As a beginning student in Astrology I was interested in learning about the different branches of Astrology ! Luckily I found the approach that resonates for me. This is probably the best book I have read to date ! It’s like finding the missing link - one of the reasons why we study astrology - helping to put the puzzle pieces together ! An excellent resource - and a must have for students in Astrology.
