Awesome Wire Stripper
The IRWIN VISE-GRIP Wire Stripping Tool and Cutter is a must-have for anyone working with wires. It handles 10 to 22 AWG wires, delivering clean, precise cuts and strips. Its ergonomic grips make it easy to use for both pros and DIYers, while sharp blades ensure smooth, fray-free cuts. Durable and reliable, it maintains performance even after long use, making wire tasks quicker and easier. It is well built overall and I am happy with the purchase.

One of the FANCIEST, most SOPHISTICATED, and USER-FRIENDLY tools that I have ever interacted with.
My first time ever using a tool like this and it went perfect! My use case for this tool was to cut "Mygatti" 16/2 Speaker Flat Wire Cable with Banana Tip Plugs (16 Gauge AWG Wire / Tinned OFC Copper) at each end, thereby cutting BELOW the banana tip plugs on 1 side of each cable, in order to eventually STRIP the clear and transparent jacket CLEAN OFF of EACH end of EACH pair of wires, in order to eventually TWIST the exposed copper strands at EACH of the 4 different ENDS into a singular entity at EACH of the 4 different ENDS, and that's, finally, in order to, then, eventually, PHYSICALLY CONNECT the exposed copper bare wire, at each of the 4 different ends, into the "A" channels of the "L + / - and R + / - " at the BACK PANEL of a Sony STR-DH190 stereo receiver, for example, if you're looking for a smooth setup, with just 2 bookshelf speakers needing to be driven. Very easy to use. Very well made. Very versatile tool. Very powerful tool. Very wieldy tool. To have it at such a reasonable price is quite a relief when you consider the costs that you're already up against as far as researching, connecting, arranging, and wiring music hardware is concerned. One very important reminder: If you're stripping 16 AWG speaker wire, for example, to connect your speakers to the "spring-loaded terminals" at the back panel of a stereo receiver, that is being wired up to, said speakers, you want to use the "14" STRIP SETTING to indent a handful of perforations, towards the end of the part of each wire that you already cut the banana tip plug off of, and this is at EACH of the 4 speaker wire ENDS to where the outer, transparent, clear, material jacket will EVENTUALLY slide off clean with a gentle tug from the tool. To recap ... to connect 2 bookshelf standalone speakers to a stereo receiver, you started the process by using the Vise-Grip tool to CUT each of the 4 different ends, in total, of speaker cable wires (there's 1 pair of wires for each speaker that needs to be hooked up, in this scenario), and, then, you STRIPPED the 4 different ENDS, as described above, then you are left with the 4 different EXPOSED ENDS of BARE copper wire ! Which is what you want at that point in the process ! At that point, you simply TWIST the copper strands that constitute THE exposed bare wire at EACH of those 4 different ends. The copper metallic thread strands, in other words, are TWISTED neatly together until they become a singular entity. At that point, you simply INSERT the bare, exposed, "singular entity version" of the copper wire, into, for example, the "A" spring-loaded terminals, for each pair of wires being connected, L / R, + / -, to the BACK PANEL of the stereo receiver. In order to INSERT EACH bare, exposed, copper wire INTO EACH spring-loaded terminal, you will need to LIFT UP the TOP LATCH of EACH spring-loaded terminal, that is, to ensure that your copper wire is successfully REACHING the BACK WALL before the clamp comes down in search of clean contact.

Solid Simplicity, Still like new 4 years later
This is probably the only product I've bought here that hasn't atomized its self within 6 months. Not only that, but I've been using it consistently to cut and strip wires, break screws, occasionally crimp... crimps for the last 4 and a half years. The blades are still as sharp as they ever were, nothing is wearing down or malforming, and it has no problems opening and closing. My only gripe is that the little hole for making wire hooks isn't great, so I have to switch to another pair of pliers for that. This is a rare example of a simple, no-frills tool that actually serves its purpose and keeps serving that purpose without an expiration date. This is what "you get what you pay for" is SUPPOSED to mean- instead of paying a premium for the manufacturers not to sabotage it first.

Outstanding wire stripper...but I'm not so good with it as a crimper
I bought this tool because: 1) I was looking for a crimping tool 2) I did not have a good set of wire strippers 3) A reviewer indicated that the wire strippers were awesome 4) I thought the price was excellent. In using this tool as a crimper, I discovered that I have a tendency to "over crimp" the connectors. I don't see this as a failing of the tool...I see it as a failing of the user. I just don't have 'the touch' down yet. However, I was blown away by how well this tool strips wires. Pros 1) Great price 2) The gauge guides for wire stripping appear to be right on the money (just as another reviewer noted). When I line up the wire in the correct hole and press the handle, I get this satisfying little "pop" that I feel when a wire stripper exactly cuts the insulation but does not touch the wire underneath. The gauge is that good. 3) It works flawlessly as a wire-cutter. It makes nice clean cuts. 4) It can be used to make crimps if you have the experience and a good feel for it. Given my limitations with crimping, it will be my backup crimper. Cons 1) This is not a con of the product...but I don't make very good crimps with this tool. I blame me and not the tool. It is a solid tool, and I'm sure I could get really good at it with practice, but I wimped out and picked up a ratcheting crimper as well (in particular, I picked up S&G Tool Aid 18900 Professional Ratcheting Terminal Crimper ). I personally recommend the tool as a great wire stripper/cutter. As far as a crimper goes, your personal skill at crimping connectors will determine its usefulness. For my part, I like the stripping/cutting ability so much, along with the price point, that I intend to keep it for that purpose alone. The fact that it can serve as a back up crimping tool is a bonus.

Can't Fault it Tremendous Product from Irwin
Use it to for small circuitry and stripping/cutting and wiring 18/20 gauge wires. Good with 10 gauge too other cheap brands tend to take strips of wire along with the outer casing, not Irwin. The cutter is razor sharp and seems it will last a very long time before going blunt. Grip is good for my hands you can get some real pressure when crimping. My only minor gripe is for a more flatter area on both sides of the insulation crimping zones so i can use it to secure connectors instead of relying on the pliers at the head of the tool. Overall a must and very handy tool in your toolbox.
