Guide to Health Informatics, 2Ed

I thought that this book gave an adequate overview of informatics, but was lacking in specificity for different informatics applications that one might encounter in the hospital. This book is a supplement to going online to find more precise sources of peer-reviewed informatics literature.

This is an excellent introductory text but is now out-of-date. It should be revised because it provides much needed information about the field.

I used this for an MSc in Health Informatics, and later to design a course I taught myself. It is very easy to read, and clearly written. The author is an internationally recognised expert in the area. The chapters are short enough that you don't get swamped with detail, but long enough to include adequate information.The only drawback is that it needs updating by now - this is a rapidly changing area. But if you are looking for an introduction to informatics, this is the best book I have seen.

The book came in very good condition. It was clean and nontorn pages. The book in actually easy to follow and has some interesting points.

This was the text recommended in a course I was taking. Simply the worst textbook I've ever read. Poor sentence structure and convoluted explanations- the editors need to really be reexamined if they decided a new edition again.Terrible- There are plenty of better texts out there that cover the same material- I suggest find you them!

Required reading for Health Informatics course. Dated in many ways, even for 2003 edition (i.e. I think it would have perhaps seemed dated even then) but that perhaps is a reflection on the pace at which health informatics adopts innovation rather than a fault of the book per se.

Great Price, Arrived Quickly and well packaged. Condition was as listed. I have had this book checked out from my college library for months - the explanations are wonderful for non-techno types who need to get up to speed. I was delighted to get it for such a reasonable price.

It would have been lovely if they have a window 8 version of this textbook.
