What is a moral person to do in a time of savage immorality? That question tormented Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German clergyman of great distinction who actively opposed Hitler and the Nazis. His convictions cost him his life. The Nazis hanged him on April 9, 1945, less than a month before the end of the war. Bonhoeffer's last years, his participation in the German resistance and his moral struggle are dramatized in this film. More than just a biographical portrait, Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace sheds light on the little-known efforts of the German resistance. It brings to a wide audience the heroic rebellion of Bonhoeffer, a highly regarded Lutheran minister who could have kept his peace and saved his life on several occasions but instead paid the ultimate price for his beliefs. Review: INSPIRING! - True story and best movie I've seen in a long time. It's very thought provoking. It made me rexam myself. Great life and great movie! Review: Most watch. - Great flick.

Of course, the book is better, but this film covers the highlights.
For those of us who love to read of Christians who hold their faith dearer than life, this will not disappoint. This is a true story of the Nazi regime's total hatred of all things not Nazi.

Never forget and history repeats !!!
This is a must see film. Especially for everyone these days. We are heading for a world leader that will be like hitler , but even worse, if that is possible. According to Daniel the prophet of the bible and the book of Revelations Keep on mind what was happening in Germany before hitler came into power. The churches were lukewarm at best and loosing their salt and light. Compromising at every turn. Just like today. The economy was very poor as it is now. People now adays are looking to man to fix it. Not to the God of the bible for their salvation

Bonhoeffer: Agent of Grace
Adolf Hitler proclaimed himself the New Messiah who took the place of Jesus Christ?! Then he endorsed the Ende Eintung (Final Solution) to exterminate all Jews?! This was just part of the barbaric savagery in Nazism. Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German Lutheran Clergyman, actively opposed Hitler and the Nazism. Bonhoeffer demonstrated to the world, especially by participation in the German Resistance (Ab Wehr) the value of each mortal individual under the Natural Law means no one is excluded. In graphic detail this movie portrays several occasions Bonhoeffer could have kept silent and saved himself. He stood for the truth and it cost him his life. The epitaph and legacy of Bonhoeffer's heorism is valid today, especially, Jesus Christ was a Jew - attack a Jew and you attack me - try to kill a Jew and you try to kill me. Of equal importance, social eugenics like the Nazi Final Solution, has no place in this world and each person has the moral God-given responsibility to oppose this. This movie demonstrates this!

A must see for everyone
I have seen this movie two times before purchase. Am building a library of quality films, that are historically true, entertaining, and morally uplifting. Bonhoeffer is such a film, and such a man. Like Schindler, he is a man who resists the Nazi ideology through action. It is a 'must see' movie for all those who have strong principles in life, and are willing to face a contrary moral majority and authority. Kevin McNiff Toronto Canada

As a history buff this movie highlights the plight that illuminates the struggle of wider society during the Nazi era of World War 11, and the issues many faced given the tyranny of Hitler’s regime and being disposed of deliberately for the sake of power. Philosophically an illuminating film showcasing how one man developed a deep sense of fate and mentality to face a most difficult era in his youthful lifetime, which, also in essence, was taken away from him.

While I believe it could have been done better, showing brother Dietrich's history & schooling & interaction with other Nazi-leaning/Statist theologians, this movie is a quick overview of the most terrible times in Germany's recent history and for Germans. The Nazi State took authority over churches and that is where brother Dietrich rightly drew the line. The wickedness of any State to persecute Christians always has consequences. It is helpful to know that some Germans under Nazi rule - in the government itself - did try to stop Hitler and his madness. They paid with their lives. God bless the Dietrich's of this world!!
