and not easy to cut with a fork
These sardines were hard and dry, as if they were sitting up on a self for a couple of years, and not easy to cut with a fork. I bought them in red sauce, because they were cheaper and I use very little of the red sauce and if I want olive oil I'll put my own on. They had an expiration date of oct 2019, in an oval 7.5 oz can. I've had many different brands of sardines and non were hard and dry like this brand. Net weight (just sardines no liquid) is 4.5 to 4.9 oz. These sardines are from china. Crown Prince has a similar product, 7.5 oz oval can, but their sardines are moist and tender (very good) and net weight is 5.1 to 5.4 oz . They are from Thailand. All the sardines I buy are wild caught (hopefully). Crown prince has a larger can, 15oz, but its from China and the quality dips a little, but they're still ok. The sardines I like the best are King Oscar, then Crown Pince, Wild Planet, and Trader Joes are comparably good. I like them in water or e-virg olve oil. Trader Joes in water are moist and tender, good eating, and cost only $1.39. (and yes they are wild caught, hopefully). Hope this helps, dont buy these unless they have improved their quality control. Happy eating!

THE PERFECT PASTA SAUCE
I really like these on spaghetti and other pasta. Its so simple. Put the cooked pasta on a plate or in a bowl. Open the can or cans and put in directly on the pasta. Mix and eat. Deelicious. Add some lemon or lime or garlic or what ever you like. Is yummy! Makes great sandwiches and dips too. Pantry staple in Hawaii. Even strait out of the can.

More People Need To Consume Small Fish
If you have come as far as to read a review about small fish in a can with tomato sauce you must be as dedicated to quality sardines as me. Everything about the Polar Sardines is fine except they are quite bland. That it! They are large sardines and quite good but even a little salt can go a long ways..

Chinese Sardines
I did not do enough research before buying these Sardines for Polar. I did not know that these Sardines are caught and canned in China! if I would have know that I would have not purchase them. I do feel bad that my cats, because they will have to eat them since I will not.

Excellent Sauce
I too found these during a power blackout at a local supermarket, & they seemed like a good meal for the situation. Later, I bought several cans from amazon. The sauce is excellent, & the sardines are fairly large & tender. I've tried other brands of sardines in tomato sauce & Polar was my favorite of them all.
