Ranma 1/2: TV Series Set 4 Limited Edition (Blu-ray)From the legendary mind of master creator Rumiko Takahashi, the mixed-up, madcap, martial arts romantic comedy Ranma 1/2 returns! After taking a surprise dip in a cursed spring while on a training journey in China, martial artist Ranma Saotome and his father, Genma, aren't quite themselves anymore. Now Ranma turns into a girl whenever he's splashed with cold water, and Genma turns into a panda! Their new forms cause nothing but confusion at the Tendo dojo, where Soun Tendo is waiting to introduce one of his three daughters to Ranma-as his fiancée! Turns out Genma and Soun arranged the match long ago, but the girl, Akane, and the boy, Ranma, aren't exactly crazy about the idea, or each other! Or are they? Watch the gender switching, jealous rages, and martial arts battles unfold all over again!]]> Review: Finish your Ranma Collection!!!!! - Finally got Season 4 in! I've been slowly upgrading my Ranma 1/2 from my old DVDs to Blu-Ray, decided to take the plunge since I found out that the Limited Editions are going out of print now! Was very lucky to snag a copy of Season 1 LE. Looks like I'll have to make due with the Standard Editions of Season 4 & 5 since they're SO expensive now!!! At least they come with slipcovers at any rate. It's not my favorite Season, I thought Season 4 had the worse opening of the Series with the very 80's Music Video talking heads intro. And it had the least amount of stories that I liked but there were a few highlights here and there that for me are still Classic Ranma. Episodes that really worked for me were : Here Comes Ranma's Mom!, From Ryoga with Love, My Fiancé, the Cat, A Formidable New Disciple Appears, Happosai's Happy Heart, Extra, Extra! Kuno & Nabiki: Read All About It!, Ryoga the Strong... Too Strong, Close Call! P-chan's Secret, Ranma and Kuno's... First Kiss, Shampoo's Red Thread of Dread!, Ranma, The Dumbest Bet in History! and You Are Such A Jerk! The Season was end-heavy with episodes I liked thankfully, but light at the start. I'm sorry the animation quality also took a dive after Season 3 (I assume they switched to a different company) so for me anyway, the animation suffers in Seasons 4, 5 & 6. But the stories get better in 6. Season 7 the animation style REALLY changes a lot, for the better I think and the stories are very good. But nothing beats Seasons 1-2 for both story and animation except maybe the OVA's and the Films. I've been upgrading the series in order or price. Most affordable to most expensive, buying between desertcart and Right Stuf Anime. Both have good deals and price drops depending on the week and sale going on... I'm not a huge Anime buff, I'm very picky but I love Ranma and it looks fantastic on Blu-Ray, so definitely worth the upgrade. I sincerily hope that VIZ Entertainment remasters and releases more Rumiko Takahashi series on Blu. Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku are both on Blu-Ray in Japan but no sign of them being released in North America yet unfortunately with English Subs or and an English Dub. Anyway, good luck in collecting or upgrading your Ranma 1/2, it's very much worth the double dip! Great comedy
From start to finish this series has been hilarious and I loved every second. Overall Score for this given its a comedy and the plot isn't to be taken serious, is a 9/10.

Of the six sets I have rebought on blu-ray, this is the only one that is not a limited edition. The limited edition was way too expensive on set 4 for some reason. Thus,, there is no cardboard box or booklet with episode summaries and art in this set - just the case with 3 discs. Videao and audio quality are excellent as always, and unlike many recent releases, you can have English subtitles with English audio. These sets are spacesavers over the old thinpak dvd releases I had, and the quality is much improved. Well worth buying, but watch for sales.

The special edition BluRay Ranma 1/2 sets are some of the nicest BluRay box sets I've ever owned. They're great just to look at, come with a collectible lithograph and glossy episode guide. The discs themselves are in a plastic bluray keep case and it's all tucked inside a heavy duty cardboard sleeve. It's been worth the extra few bucks for me to go for the Special edition ones, and the price on Amazon is fantastic, especially on pre-order, as I spent $70 on the first set at a convention. What a relief to save $25 a box set!
