Does it adhere to plastic?

This is for wood try doing a search for plastic epoxy. That should put you in a better direction.

If I use it to repair the top 4 or 5 inches of my porch post, is the paste strong enough to hold a 4X6 beam(beam is on side of post with bracket)?

I have personally used this to repair several areas around my house. I can tell you when it dries it is incredibly hard and durable. You can sand it, so if you don't form it perfectly you can smooth out any bumps. I was able to put screws through it as well. Without seeing the post my answer is this: if you are repairing decay and not the entire top of the post then yes. I would also recommend cleaning up all the rotten or broken wood as possible then spray it with a wood petrifier if damage is due to wood rot. The petrifier will hardened in 24-48 hours, then I would use system 3. The petrifier is relatively inexpensive.

Could you use this in a silicone mold to create replacement carved trim on furniture?

I cant tell you about the paste , but they have the pudy that comes in some different colors and it works great, for making parts and pieces of lots of things including wood. I love to work with this stuff. There is a time limit on it though, but if you are putting it in a mold shouldn't have a problem.

Can this be used on vertical surfaces? A standing wood beam has a crack. Or better to use the putty?

Most epoxy paste or putty would work. If it continues to enlarge, it could crack again. Caulking would allow some movement.
