Maxed out but....SIGH

I got the 17 inch, 64Gb ram, 4Tb SSD, RTX 2070 version, very pleased with the laptop. I do 3D graphics/modeling, it runs photoshop, ZBrush, Corel Painter and other 3d Programs without a hitch. Fast and allows multiple programs to be open at one time without slowing down. Great for multitasking, would recommend it to anyone needing power and speed,**UPDATE**So 4 months later and the monitor has stopped working. No biggie, stuff happens, but after sending laptop in to them it's sat in their hands for over a week now and still no one's looked at it. We'll see if they can do something to make up for this delay. Bought the thing because I needed it, now... I'll update again after i see how long this is going to take. And now 2 Weeks with "we haven't looked at it yet. Like the laptop, after purchase care, not so much. We'll see if this gets a 3 week update or not. That one will cost another star if so.

The High Performance Thin and Light

tl;dr - If you're willing to give up on build polish, this is a great machine for those on a budget that still want a smaller form factor and great specs. It has amazing input devices, and actual usage of the machine has no compromises compared to much more expensive devices.---Performance and Cooling---I figure this is the first thing people will look for- performance is quite good. The laptop has a turbo mode which makes the fan go freely when gaming and while everything is pretty loud, it stays very cool. There's a "Fan Boost" mode that pushes this further - if you're using the laptop on your lap while gaming, fan boost mode keeps it cool enough to use against bare skin which is wild.Performance across the same specs in laptops are really dependent on cooling. While this laptop is thinner and lighter than most gaming machines, it's not afraid to become louder to properly cool itself if you want that. It also can be quieter with a bit of performance sacrifice if you'd like. Very, very cool.---Screen---I'd rate this screen as "very very good." My laptop came with the LGD05C0 - the same model that the Gigabyte Aero 15x and Razer Blade 2018 use. As measured by Notebookcheck - this offers a 10.5ms black to white response time and 15.2ms grey to grey response time. Everything looks very smooth, and the laptop has great colors, brightness, and contrast. Those who are used to gaming on TN panels with super low response time should probably stick to 3 ms laptop screens such as in the Zephyrus GM501, but I'd challenge anybody who was not a highly competitive FPS player to recognize a difference in response time. The screen is matte as is par for the course, and is not touchscreen. The bezels are super small and gaming on it is a pleasure. I particularly like small bezels.---Inputs---The keyboard is fantastic for a laptop keyboard. It feels nice, has great travel, and typing on it does not fatigue fingers like so many laptops. It definitely doesn't feel like a desktop mechanical keyboard, but rather it feels like an upgraded scissor switch keyboard with a lot more tactile response and a lot more travel. It isn't very loud. It's certainly audible but even typing quickly it's not abrasive or noticeable. Those around you will notice you are typing, but especially without context of other keyboards, the sound makes sense for typing on a laptop. The layout is odd - I would have preferred a lack of a numpad so that hands are centered, but I can understand many people would use it and it does work as extra macro buttons in games so I'm not complaining. The trackpad works when you want to use the trackpad, however palm rejection on the trackpad seems non-existent. This could easily be fixed with a driver update, but as of today (2019 06 15) palm rejection is not great and only seems to work when a huge amount of the palm is resting on the trackpad. Turn the sensitivity way down on taps as well, or it can right click when you're scrolling. This is an issue on many laptops, but I've noticed it a few times while typing this review. That being said, tracking works flawlessly, and Windows precision drivers make the experience all that much better. Everything else about that trackpad meets expectations for a premium trackpad, other than the material used but I'm not a person who minds.---Chassis---The port selection is great- other than the lack of a thunderbolt 3. This is one of the few laptops with a mini displayport, so it will work with the Occulus Rift S. It is absolutely baffling to me that a Thunderbolt 3 port isn't included, but I don't see myself needing one and realistically I won't be using an external GPU. I'm not taking off a star for this as that is exactly what's advertised. What I am removing half a star for however, is the sharp edges. I understand this is a prebuilt chassis from Tongfang but the transitions between the plastic and the aluminum are very sharp. I would have preferred an all plastic chassis without sharp edges. This isn't an issue for me on the screen or the back or bottom of the laptop, but the front of the laptop digs into my wrists and I have to be careful because it's sharp enough to cut me if I move too quickly. Taking a metal file or something to those sharp edges would have increased the build quality of this immensely but I understand it drives the costs up. Once my warranty ends I'll definitely be doing that myself. If you're used to ultrabooks the laptop will be larger than you expect, but this laptop has extremely similar dimensions to the Razer Blade 2018. It's 4mm longer, 8mm wider, and 5mm thicker - which is not really noticeable. It's also .21 lbs lighter, which is neat. If you're in the market for something like the Razer Blade or the MSI GS65 Stealth but don't want to pay as much for that small size, buy this instead because it's the only thing comparable and is priced with the bigger systems. You can easily reduce noise level and jack up thermal throttling just like those laptops do with the office mode fan profile, but having the option to ramp it up is awesome and will make this laptop outperform those obvious competitors.Otherwise, the chassis is incredibly sturdy. I have no concerns about the longevity of this system and expect it to continue working for years upon years. The aluminum and plastic both do not show fingerprints at all which is a blessing - the laptop will continue to look great.---Upgradability---If you get the model on amazon rather than Eluktronic's website (which I recommend for cost savings) you will be given the model with the extended battery - that means what is available to upgrade for you is: 2 DIMM slots for ram, Wifi card, 2 M.2 Slots for hard drive. There are a lot of screws to remove the bottom panel, but no clips, so it ends up being a frustration free experience.---Network---The network card in this machine is an Intel 9560, which is a fast, stable card. The addition of an RJ-45 for wired ethernet is a godsend as well. I had to update the driver manually from the Intel site, Windows update installed a driver that caused the card to slow to a snail's pace after some mild use. I'll update this review if any more issues arise there.---Battery Life---I'm getting a solid 4-6 hours with this laptop, which is par for the course. Don't expect to game on this long on battery (you shouldn't expect to game on any laptop long on battery) and expect frame rates to plummet on battery as well as power delivery doesn't allow the card to get enough juice. This will happen on every single gaming laptop, don't expect otherwise.---Software---The laptop comes with a clean Windows 10 install, with one piece of software installed. The software can be used to control the RGB lighting, as well as the fans and fan boost. I'm not the kind of person to really care about RGB lights, but it has some cool presets. My favorite is one that actually uses the RGB on the keyboard as a sound wave measure and lights up with your music. I thought that was pretty sweet. The keys are individually lit, so go ham. As with every laptop I've owned, I just set the backlight to a single color and turn it off unless it's dark. What I didn't quite understand is why I had to manually enter the licence key. Eluktronics - activate the product and then use the "Reset this PC" option in Windows to bring it back to stock, the product will remain activated. I'm not taking off any stars for this and I appreciate having the license key on a sticker on the bottom, but I was confused as to why this wasn't already done.

Awesome laptop, awesome price.

Wasn’t sure on what to expect on quality for this company, but this laptop is very well made, screen looks amazing, lightning fast. So far no issues at all; don’t waste your money being overcharged by companies like Razer, MSI, or ASUS.

Amazing value for such a well-built machine

I bought this laptop to be a "home away from home" machine. After owning it for a short period, I've so far been blown away by the quality of the laptop and the overall performance.PROS:Beautiful Full HD 144hz display. Going from 60hz to 144hz is a night and day differenceBattery Life- Surprisingly capable as an unplugged machine when doing light workloads. I was able to get a good 5-6 hours of light work out of it on a full chargeSpeed- Everything I do on this laptop is super snappy. From gaming to browsing to development work, it just plows through everything.I/O- There's every port you could want on this thing, a USB-c, TWO mini display port, HDMI, 2 USB 3.0 Type A, 1 USB 2.0 Type A, Ethernet, SD Card reader and dedicated audio/microphone 3.5mm headphone jacks.Price- $1500 for a machine of this caliber is honestly astonishing.Build Quality- Rigid frame and hardly any flex for such a thin laptop, with a design that doesn't scream "gaming PC" so you can use it at work without raising any concerns.CONS:The keyboard is a little bit "mushy", but I may just need more time to get used to the key typeNoise- Don't get me wrong, I love the aggressive fan speed as it keeps the temperature low. It does lead to a louder machine, which is a turn off for some but I don't mind it.Additionally, for this price it comes with a mousepad and wired mouse that looks to be comparable to the Razer Deathadder Chroma. I didn't receive this with the original package but I reached out and they were extremely quick to respond and shipped the mouse and mousepad out right away.I'll definitely be telling all my friends about this company, any concerns I had in the beginning about them not necessarily being a household name have been blown away by the great product and customer service experience5/5

Must Buy, Great Deal

I am a college student in need for an affordable yet powerful laptop, where i can work on as well as game. When i saw the under 2k price i was skeptical at first but it turned out to be one of my best investments.Overall i love this laptop, the setup was easy, great display, build quality and really thin and light for its size. The chasis and the display is beautiful, and the best thing is it doesn’t have an obvious gamer-y look which is a plus, when taking it to class or in public. This laptop is a beast, and it replaced my old i5 1060 desktopThe only major issue is the battery life, for the most i could get at doing light tasks is 4-5 hours which isn’t too bad.The speakers are a little low in volume. The fan noises get really loud when gaming, but that’s to be expected with any laptop. The software for the lights and the lightbar could be better
