Solid well built taper jig.
I recently bought this taper jig, and have used it a few times. I should have bought this years ago, instead of building multiple taper jigs. It is easy to use and has a range of options, that I might not use, but are great to have available. I am a big fan of this jig, and can see using it for years.

Thoroughly read the instructions and watch the DVD first!
I started using it before I understood how it works. You need to purchase the Grrrippers that go with it or fashion your own. In my first attempt the wood piece I was working on started slipping and going off. Like an idiot, I grabbed the piece with my hand and tried to guide it. I ended up with a nasty cut from the table saw. If the blade had been a little higher, I would have lost a finger. With that said, once I got a pair of Grrrippers for it the rig worked flawlessly and I was able to put a nice taper on the legs for the planter I was building (shown in photo)

Works - And Then Some
I've just started woodworking, and made my own tapering jig. Yeah, it didn't work. So I made another one. That one didn't work either. Before I blamed the wood, or the saw, I thought I'd go ahead and try this jig. Watched several YouTube videos. I made four table legs, tapered, first time out. And they were perfect. Not ok, not almost ok. Perfect. This jig made it SO easy. I watched the DVD, read the directions, used an online calculator to figure out the degrees to set it to - and the legs turned out well. I'd HIGHLY recommend this jig - it's incredibly versatile. I' also used it to cut straight edges on boards for gluing together - and it works great at that as well. While I admire the folks that can make their own jigs, while I'm learning the process, it's nice to have something that just works. Will I try to make my own jig again in the future? Probably not - why would I when this works so well. I've been using mine for over a month now - and it just works - consistent, repeatable cuts. Stop thinking about it - just get it. You won't regret it. But do - please - watch the DVD - it's worth the 15 minutes or so, and you can always go back and watch the section you need.

Really good - but necessary??
I resisted buying this jig, as it seemed excessively "gadgety", over-complicated and unnecessary. I later succumbed and have used this jig to great effect many times. Having said that, many generations of people doing beautiful and robust furniture did so without these jigs. I never forget this fact.

Well worth the cost in precision and safety
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Watch the YouTube videos on this one. They all love it, and you will too. Sure, I built my own. Sure, I used the cheap one on the rack at Woodcraft and Rockler. This one is FAR more precise and, with the GRRIPPER push block, Rock solid and safe. Pleasure to use.

Missing a part
It came without the memory blocks. The rest of it was fine and works well.

Great tool that made the project much easier
This jig was instrumental in my latest project tapering 3" wood carving blanks to use for a speaker stand. My blanks were 32" long and I think this is probably the maximum safe length that it could be used for. I did have to jimmy it a bit to support the weight of the blanks (my table saw isn't too big, so with a larger table, you wouldn't have to worry about this. Great tool that made the project much easier, and MUCH MUCH safer. It was pretty expensive, but I am glad I purchased. I would have wasted expensive material in trial and error without this.
