Near Audiophile quality at a low price
While a Klipsch fanatic, my dream speaker the LaScala is way too far out of my price range ($8000.00) so I was looking for a cheaper solution, but most of the lower end Klipsch were still out of my range. So as I was reviewing options I came across the Jamo S809 and after reading reviews and listening to Audiophile reviews I pulled the trigger as they (pair) were on sale for less than half their list price and the price of one Klipsch speaker of equivalent style. When they arrived the box was beat to heck but the speakers were okay with only minor edge damage. I immediately placed them in my living room system replacing a pair of Klipsch R-15 bookshelf speakers which though fantastic sounding were too small even with a Polk subwoofer for the 15 x 30 foot room. I hooked them up to the Sherwood 100 watt stereo receiver and began breaking them in running through my music collection on shuffle so they would be playing everything from classical to heavy metal. At first the highs were a bit harsh but as they broke in they mellowed out and now they sound fantastic letting me hear nuances that I can't hear on my family room system with the same music but running through some 40 year old BIC formula 4's and POLK monitor 40's. They definitely fill the room and even though they don't need the POLK subwoofer I kept it in the system for those songs that really like that extra bit of base. All in all I am very satisfied with theses speakers and would recommend them to anyone wanting lots of sound for very little money.

Beautiful speakers and good sound for medium size room.
Thank you Amazon Warehouse, I could not be happier except that the delivered package was delivered badly opened and I think it added more dents to this pair of black Jamo S809 speakers, but they seem to be pretty sturdy as they still function. That being said they are on trial as I notice a slight "SHHHHHHH" sound in the background that could also come from some bad home studio recording so wait and see. I like them a lot. They are as tall as the 21 y.o. pair of Cornet from the same brand I still own. These speakers are 8ohm impedance and work well with a 100w per channel receiver. My room is less than 30 meter square and they are great. I used a 16 avg wire to connectthem. They seem weak on the bass, but it might be because they are out of phase. I will correct that as soon as I have a new receiver. I deplore there is no wood anymore to make medium range speakers, but MDF covered with glued vinyle, not veneer, but oh well, at such a price, I cannot ask for the moon right? They are still beautiful and elegant, sturdy and heavy, around 10 kilos each according to me. Now, I am just waiting for a new receiver and push them a little bit further, but Rome was not made in one day so patience. I like the fact you can add heights for a virtual Atmos sound. What a great look it gives to my living room...yes, definitively. All in all it is a very good purchase...

They work ok for a bargain price
The speakers work ok for the money paid. That said while these do ok for the money spent (329 a pair) they aren’t all that which most professional reviewers claim. These Jamo’s do not compete with the the mid to high end brands like Klipsch, SVS, Bowers etc... My Klipsch RP-160M bookshelves easily out preform these floorstanding speakers in every way for similar money. These do good in a small room, in a larger room look elsewhere. Pro’s look good, small foot print, do good in small rooms, cheap price, no speaker stands required, no sub needed for average listening in small room. Cons Better performance from some bookshelve speakers that cost similar money, the tweeter (fixable by turning down treble on amp) can be harsh at higher levels and that’s coming from someone who’s really into horn speakers. They fit my needs for the small room I placed them in, would I buy them again? Sure for what I’m using them for and the look I was after. Can these compete with the likes of Klipsch and others? Only on the very lowest of entry level options from those other brands. In the Klipsch line once you start listening to the reference premiere line even the previous generation their’s no real contest, the Klipsch is hands down the better speaker and can easily be heard. Finally, what's up with the atmos connections at the top? I guess if you're running these in a surround atmos system amd are too lazy to ceiling mount they're OK but they don't offer a chic, modern industrial look... They're ugly dust collectors that I imagine would collect dirt over time. I got some black vinyl Webcam disks cheap and covered them. Has to be a better way. Far more people using these as standard tower or in a standard 5.1 setup. Would much rather see the towers bi-amp capable than having those ugly metal holes in the top of the speakers. Who looks behind towers, you can easily run speaker cable up the back or the tower with various cable management techniques. Just don't like those stupid atmos connections in the top where everyone sees them in plain sight. As I said, covered them with cheap black vinyl Webcam privacy stickers, while not perfect far better than it was.

ME AGRADA MUCHO EL DISEÑO, SE OYEN MUY BIEN YA QUE OFRECEN UN SONIDO BASTANTE ESPACIOSO Y EQUILIBRADO: GRAVES SUFICIENTES PARA EL TAMAÑO DE LOS 3 WOOFERS ,BUENA IMAGEN EN LA VOZ .. LE PONGO 4 ESTRELLAS PORQUE UNA DE LAS TORRES LLEGÓ CON UN GOLPE EN UNA ESQUINA Y 2 RAYONES COMO SE VEN EN LAS FOTOS 2,3 Y 4, SUPONGO QUE EL MANEJO NO ES SUFICIENTEMENTE CUIDADOSO EN EL TRASLADO, LA CAJA VENÍA MUY MALTRATADA, PENSÉ INCLUSO QUE VENÍAN PEOR, LO BUENO ES QUE EN DESEMPEÑO NO LE AFECTA PARA NADA POR ÉSO NO OPTÉ POR DEVOLVERLAS. RECOMENDABLE SI LES GUSTA MUCHO EL BAJO PROFUNDO COMPLEMENTAR CON UN SUBWOOFER Y EL SONIDO ES MAGNÍFICO,MUY RECOMENDABLES
