A lot of options for Imperial Guard here and a lot of ways to customise regiments, some interesting options like remnant squads and such... but wheres the Griffon?

Having just written a review for the out-of-date codex, I thought I'd provide some feedback for this one.Like every other Codex, this is a reasonably durable paperback book with a glossy cover. There is no real educational value to this item: though reasonable mathematics and reading skills are required to get the most out of it.If you're considering this as a gift for someone, I'd advise that you give that person a gift voucher instead. This product is only useful for people who play the table top game "Warhammer 40,000" with the army "Imperial Guard". If they play with the Imperial Guard, chances are they already own this book.The book contains a wealth of fictional backstory for the Imperial Guard and, of course, the rules for fielding an Imperial Guard army. However unlike its predecessor, this title doesn't give any painting advice - in fact there's a lot less showcasing of miniatures in this book (though there are some painting suggestions). If you don't play Warhammer and just like to make and paint the models, this book will not be of use to you.Gameplay wise: the rules have been rebalanced and clarified; units have been changed, added, removed and brought back; doctrines scrapped; and a new system of "orders" brought in.All in all, this book is essential for Imperial Guard players and will provide much entertainment for Warhammer fans.
