Review: Good tool. - 4 stars for accuracy and here’s why: I did not even check it. I read many reviews of combination squares and it me theme remains consistent. That is the tools accuracy, how close it is to “actual” whatever (in this case true square) and it’s precision, or how consistent and reliably it measures. For a square both are very important. That said, it’s hard to understand why any sane person would buy at the lowest possible price point in expectation of receiving a state of the art, finely milled, 100% accurate instrument of true precision. If that is what your job needs then you know where to find it. Bad reviews are not necessary. Average Joe’s and Jane’s alike, DIY freaks and everyone else who isn’t building a watch out of wood, this is a very good tool. It’s sturdy and accuracy is suitable for most jobs. Small enough to fit in a tool bag/box. I built an entire play set out of harvested trash/pallet wood and not one of those kids has complained it’s out of square. Recommend. Review: Indispensable for the woodshop jacket pocket. - Indispensable for checking square, checking depth, drawing lines for layout. Comes with a level and scratch awl in the handle for marking when you forget your pencil. This combo square is pocketable and I find it far more convenient than the 12" model for most quick jobs around the shop. I have a couple of these for when I can't find one! A little dry when it comes, I hit it with WD-40 and work it for a bit, then wipe it off so I don't leave spots on my wood projects. This helps it move nicely. I can't see spending $63-$149 for the Starrett when this costs $8 and is perfectly serviceable, though I am sure the Starrett is very nice. It must be more like gentlemans jewelery!
