To make it operate properly you will need to set the RGB sequence based on the type of LED, and also the number of pixels that are in the string. That said, the direction say to "press the auto button in the off state to enter settings." I tried pressing the auto button 10-15 times in the off state and nothing happens or the string turns on even though the on button was not pressed. After multiple attempts somehow the controller finally went into settings mode. I looked on youtube and this procedure should be as simple as a one time push of the auto button. So either mine is defective, or other brands of this same product seem to work much better. The controller doesn't like mixing of different brands of LED strips even though they should be build using a standard chipset. It also seems to stop working the minute you cut you strips. My advice - works okay with a full string of lights but very difficult to get it into setting mode - if you plan to cut as part of your implementation look elsewhere. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for playing with WS2811 LED's. *by A***S on Reviewed in the United States on August 18, 2019* This remote allows you to control LED's that are individually addressable, WS2811 and WS2812, and normally are controlled by a DIY microcontroller like an Arduino or a Raspberry Pi, but without any coding. The only downside is that the modes are sequenced 1 - 366 but if you want to get back to a mode once you've turned off the device you must press the mode button as many times as you had to get to that mode. So you want mode 122, you have to press the mode button 122 times if you turn of the controller. But it really does the trick and it's super brite! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ It works well! *by J***K on Reviewed in the United States on January 17, 2020* Used it for an infinity mirror. Can pick amount of leds you are using with the program setup function. The controllers I've purcgased in the past seem to malfunction or stop working after time. Glad this one worked and that it's simple to use from a good distance away. The wifi one I would stay away from.
