I installed it in my Mercury and it is working fine **Q: What activates the relay... positive to the small post or negative?** A: The small post is the 12 volts (positive) from the switch inside the vehicle when it is in the start position. There is no negative to this solenoid other than the case itself. The negative is through the chassis ground.
