Obviously, there are loads of people at crags, too, and lots of soloists around nowadays. I've also taken up a medical job which means it would be embarrassing to be under-prepared for a first aid situation, so it was time to make up my own kit - as I wanted to tailor what I do and don't carry. This pack is big enough to fit in a sam splint, thermometer, tiny pulse ox, aspirin, paracetamol, anti-histamines, tough cuts, various bandages, gloves, swabs, tic card, fluid things, cpr sheet mask, sugar tablets... loads basically. I also like that it's black (unlike the bright green or red first aid bags) and is not so obvious when attached to the side of my climbing kit bag. I'm not a Bear Grylls wannabe, I just want to be able to help if someone needs it.
