The sole is thick and sturdy, but not too hard. The toe piece might be a bit thick for some feet. I got these for shower shoes so can't say if they'd work for walking more. I didn't return them since due to the sole quality, they don't trip me getting in and out of the tub. They are all more sport oriented type sandals (heavy, arch support). So, I said I will wear these around the house to get a good feel for them...then pass judgement. I got into my day, and then realized much later in the day when I took the dog and trash out that I had forgotten and still had these on....so I guess they are mine now! That was yesterday...I have not taken them off, and was pleased to put them back on this morning. Again, I have not gotten them wet and that is the big test where most of my others fail miserably. Foot slips on the footbed and sole slips on wet surface. Walking in with low expectations really helps, as well as I am excited to try something new/different. I use them in the shared bathroom because I am a college student. I wish the bottom was a little more padded, but other than that no complaints from me. They are good and lasted me a long time! The durability and comfort is really good. I can wear this to the beach, showers, or just when I am too lazy for shoes.
