Transporting them always involved some bumps and bruises, occasionally resulting in a non-functioning hard drive. I looked into various protection (plastic cases, foam rubber, styrofoam) but they either did not offer any real protection or were too bulky to be of use. These bags, though a little bigger than I expected, are exactly what I wanted. They're big enough that 2 3.5" drives will fit in one sealed bag (top-to-top). They're easy to open and close. The external pocket is nice for any documentation or labeling. I don't believe they are static proof, but I had more drives fail due to physical damage than to ESD. These are made from fairly heavy plastic, and the "double-wall" construction is nice - can't snag the bubbles. Labels don't stick to them very well, but I put mine inside the pocket and haven't had one come off yet.
