I fitted one to my garden gate, which is wood and about waist height, and it only just works. **Q: Is this suitable to use outdoors as a gate closer on a metal gate?** A: I bought this to use on an outdoor wooden gate and don’t work. **Q: Is there any way to choose if it's enabled or not without changing the tension? I'd want to normally have it disabled but easy to enable.** A: No. It’s a permanent spring connection. There is no switch **Q: can this be used as a soft door closer? I mean does it slow down the door closing?** A: no, it merely pushes the door shut. Also found it not to be very robust if the return spring is overloaded, causing the unit to fail catastrophically. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Better than other online alternatives *by A***J on 14 January 2022* Works well and is easy to install. The very common cylinder door closer is the only option available online in many places unless you are lucky enough to find this one. Two cylinder closers broken in 2 years, this one is much smoother, easier to fit and is obviously less mechanically stressful on the parts hence more robust. The adjustment method is awkward hence would have given it 4 stars in the review except no one reads 4 star reviews so I gave it 5. ### ⭐ Laughably poor quality. *by M***N on 30 June 2019* Laughably poor quality.
