## Questions & Answers

**Q: what size reel will be best suited for yellow tails in the Keys?**
A: The 4000 is a good size for Yellowtail snapper in Keys.  A 2500 is a good choice too, however they don't make a Thunnus 2500.  The 4000 it's light and nimble on properly sized rod but has enough strength to handle most snapper to average size Mahi and small tuna.

**Q: When trying to select a size it does not make sense no option for 4000**
A: I'm with the original poster... the size options do not show the model size 4000, 8000 etc etc.... is this just different gearing for the 8000?

**Q: is the Shimano Thunnus 12000 better reel when it comes to power than the 8000? is it as higher the number the better the reel?**
A: no, the number is the size of the reel - 12000 is bigger in size than the 8000. 4000 is the smallest of this range.

**Q: If I’m going for large pelagics and sailfish, with live bait will this do the job or should I go with a larger size Saragosa.**
A: Yes.  It would be a great live bait reel for sailfish.  We’ve used it for tuna fishing and it’s been a very good reel.

Really wanted to get the best available spinning reel for trophy trout fishing in lakes. Long casting and smooth drag are most critical concerns. Got out once using 10lb braid with FC leader. Incredibly smooth retrieve, great casting distance. Didn't really get to test the drag since the biggest fish I caught was about 17 inches. I do love this reel but i don't know if it's worth paying an extra $500+ over a Vanford, which I also have in the same 2500 size using the exact same line set up. At least for what I'm targeting. Nice to have a flagship reel but don't think I'll be swapping out all my combos anytime soon.
