Or rather rotate back and forth?** A: Only in one direction. It does however have a "throw" of approx 12mm (so a sort of eccentic movement) so as to avoid heating/burning the area being polished by keeping the head in contact with the same spot for too long. IMO, not a bad item for the money. **Q: Is the machine fairly loud&does it get hot after prolonged use?** A: Not uncomfortably hot but does get warm. So far it's worked brilliant ...... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Reasonable cheap DA polisher *by G***W on 12 December 2020* Was looking for a cheap DA polisher and found this. If I was designing this I would have the on/off switch mounted on the top of the unit rather than the side, I found the side switch slightly awkward to use. As this is the only DA polisher I have used, I have nothing to compare it against. I like it, and considering the limited use that I will put it to it is suitable. Would also add that DA polishers are very easy to use, I bought an old car bonnet to practice on and had some amazing finishes as I brought it up thru various polishing stages. Even buffs off indelible marker that I used to highlight imperfections on the bonnet.
