The translucent plastic lets you see where your dough has risen to. Easy to mark with whiteboard or permanent marker. Lid covers completely but is not airtight, so won’t pop off as dough ferments. Plastic has no smell at all and doesn’t affect dough flavor. Rugged and pretty easy to clean. There is a small ledge near the top (which is probably a stacking feature), that I find slightly inconvenient when cleaning, but this doesn’t ruin my life. It was smaller than I expected from the pictures, but ended up being perfectly sized for a good sized loaf.
