Out of the box it's already sharp and can cut the shipping box in half. Quality steel, straight blade no bumps. No blood grove but upper portion of the blade is polished. remainder of blade is satin finish down to the cutting edge.Well balanced, no too heavy. Real Hamon. Saya has a unique textured non slippery finish. Tsuba is standard "wagon wheel" as used on lower cost Musha/Musashi blades. All fitting are tight. Removal from Saya is very good, not too tight or easy. Comes with instructions on care. Overall, this is a martial arts Katana designed for serious cutting. Outstanding!
