Vintage instruments with nitrocellulose lacquer finishes require more care and attention than modern polyurethane finishes that are being produced today. Parts I thought were permanently damaged came back to life with a little elbow grease. I found it most effective if I put a small dollop on and rubbed it in with my fingers before taking the soft cloth to it. I could feel the grime lifting. Review: no noticeable improvement with a sticky nitrocellulose finish - This product was recommended to me for use with my guitar's nitrocellulose finish. Nitro finishes tend to feel a bit "sticky" when they interact with sweat, so I hoped this would reduce that. While it does a fine job removing residual sweat and gunk, I can't say that it makes any difference while playing the guitar. It's possible that I need to apply it for a while to see if there is a difference, but thus far it hasn't made any difference. If I see a difference I will update my review.
