### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The very best help for strong memorization...
*by S***N on February 25, 2020*

What I like best about these recordings is Alex. Scourby's masterful reading of the King James Bible."Thee" and "thou" flow so naturally in his voice. This is very important, for reasons as follows.1. When the Bible uses the words "thee" and "thou," the person being addressed in the text is a single, individual person.2. When the Bible uses "you" and "ye," the persons being addressed are a group of people. This is no accident and is crucial for true understanding of the Bible. The original languages always distinguish between "thou" versus "you."For example, the Hebrew word "Elohim" is literally, "Gods," (plural), but the verb coupled with Elohim in the Bible, when speaking of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, is always strangely in the singular. And God is always address as "Thee" or "Thou," and "Thy" and "Thine."Ancient Jews realized early that God had multiple persons within a single entity: "Hear O Israel: YHVH our Gods (Elohim) is one YHVH." Deut. 6:4; "And the Spirit of Gods (Elohim) moved upon the face of the waters." Gen. 1:2; "Let Us make man in Our image." Gen. 1:26.Only in modern English language Bibles is God ever addressed in a technical plural. Not in any other language: Their current vocabulary easily handles the plural and singular "you" in the original Bible languages of Hebrew and Greek. Thus any translation without "thee," "thou," "thy" or "thine" is actually a mistranslation, because without those pronouns, much of the text becomes very misleading, e.g.:"Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren." (Luke 22:31-32)This passage takes on a very different meaning, if those "thee" and "thou" and "thy" words become just more "you" and "your" words.Just a short while after saying that, Jesus told Peter he would deny Him 3 times before the cock would crow.According to the above-cited passage in Luke, Peter couldn't have yet been converted. The other disciples may have been, but Peter wasn't.Once Peter was converted, his faith sometimes faltered, but didn't fail. And he was able to strengthen his fellow disciples on very many occasions recorded in the Bible. The "sifting as wheat" remark was speaking of a plural group, which means Jesus must have been speaking to Simon Peter about all His disciples. It shows too, that Satan wants to divide all disciples, separating them the way wheat is separated: Into coarse, fine, dark, light, or other differing types and gradations. The strategy of evil against Christianity is: "Divide and conquer," using a wedge of intrinsic and superficial traits.None of this is revealed through the modern English use of "you" and "yours" for all 2nd Person pronouns.Thousands of other examples and doctrines could be cited.Practically every language but English still has a "thee" and "thou" form. In English it had already disappeared by the time the King James version was completed in 1611. The truth of this statement is seen by the "Letter Dedicatory" in the front of many KJV Bibles, where "thee" and "thou" aren't used at all. The King James version translators had to dredge up those near-dead words from "olden days" in order to make an accurate translation. It's wonderful to hear the King James text so naturally spoken by Alexander Scourby, who practiced every chapter several times before the recordings were made.I love the durable CD format. Not nearly as prone to damage as the old-time cassette tapes. The wonderfully rugged nylon canvas case my CDs came in feels fabulously rugged, too.Thank you to Hendrickson Publishers for coming out with this great item at such an affordable price! One more tip to others: Repeated listening is a marvelous help for strong memorization. Try it in your car, on the boat, around the house; you'll see what I mean!Don't be afraid of the King James version; Christ is recorded in at least three places in the Bible saying, "Heaven and earth shall pass away but My words shall not pass away."The Greek texts of the New Testament from which the King James was translated never passed out of common use. Several other Greek texts, did pass away for centuries, until unearthed by modern textual critics. These "undead" Greek texts, discarded by early faithful copyists, are now pervading the Bible market. Many other Greek texts, copied by hand for centuries, corrected their divergent readings of the Greek, using texts obtained by translators for the King James version.Hear these recordings over and over, and thank God for His mercies.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Bought for my Dad.

He listens to them every single day. Loves them.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Finally!
*by S***X on October 8, 2014*

I could not be more pleased. Finally a Bible that I can really use to study. For example, right now I am studying Revelations. I am able to remove what pages I wish. Make notes and highlight as I please and then return those particular pages back to the main Bible. If you are studying a certain book in Bible study, you could do the same thing. There is a nice amount of space for notes in margins on each page. The 40lb. weight paper used for each page works well with Bible highlighters. I am using wet Bible highlighters and they don't bleed through. Now, be aware that this Bible is way too big and awkward to carry around in its entirety to church service in my opinion, but for study, it is perfect. I agree with the reviewer that said the pages will turn better if you remove the extra pages and the Concordance located at the end. I put them in another loose leaf.I highly recommend this Bible. The font is readable, though it is not large size I am afraid. But, that is what my reading glasses are for. Treat yourself. I thought the price here was spot on too.
