No radios needed, and I would say better, faster and very much cheaper than other alternatives.I found a couple of tricks needed for the install but it works very well once it is set.Check out Youtube videos, be sure to use USB2 port on PC. Also I had to adjust the AMBE baud rate to 460800 to get the firmware to respond.
